I can't see Madonna doing anything new to shock in America on this tour, if anything i think her releasing the statement right before the US dates kick off tonight shows she is worried that she is going to be slammed for being 'controversial'. Let's be honest as much as i adore the US (and i do) the press etc there like to make such a big deal out of things like this. I will GUARANTEE that so many of the press outlets there will slam her for having a gun in the show without seeing any irony whatsoever.

I think she's only going to get perfunctory coverage in the press and it's only going to be of the "on course to be one of the most successful tours EVER!" variety. I'm telling you, she really doesn't register here anymore. Tickets are still available to Every. Single. One. Of. Her. US. Shows. Except one in Washington, DC. Plenty available for the other night there, however.

The press (what there is left of it), will correctly surmise that Madonna is over. Not that a small cohort doesn't love her and not that they won't turn out for the show, (the patient ones will most likely be paying less than face value for the tickets), just that she doesn't "matter."

Sometime around November, she'll put Romney up on big screen wearing an SS uniform, two people on Fox News will scream about how the liberals worship Madonna and then it will fizzle away.

Yet sales in America are better then the European dates and most of them sold out, she has (apparently) around 30 thousand cheap tickets left on sale for the US and Canadian tour, not that many really.

Also most of the press i read by simply typing in Madonna to google search (news section) seems to come from the US and has done for the past few months even when she has been touring Europe....odd that.

No, the cheap seats are gone. Nobody wants to and many cannot afford to pay the ridiculous prices she is charging. Her tours now sell from the top and back of the arenas on down to the floor. Not the other way around.

I saw the first of two nights on The American Life tour in my area. The morning of the second show, the non-profit I was stationed at got a call asking if we wanted comp tickets. I had already seen it (and it was about an hour away) and I had paid cold hard cash for my tickets, but I urged my friends to go because I thought the show was great (except for La Isla Bonita and the especially execrable Crazy for You dedicated "to you, my faaaaaaans" wherein she tried to remember to point in the direction of the audience on "you"). There was no ticket limit and my colleagues and several clients got much better seats than my friend and I had the night before.

And THAT is how promoters get to put "SOLD OUT" on tour websites even though selling has little to do with it.

Well this time im going to listen to what everyone else is saying that the cheap seats are left. I know 2 friends of mine just got last minute tickets to the show tonight in Philadelphia but all they could get were cheap seats at the back of the Wells Fargo Centre, they seem happy enough though as the venue is really not that big. Guess Philadelphia is pretty much sold out judging by the first pics that have come out of the audience showing a packed arena. Maybe it's a fluke Namo and the rest of the dates will be much emptier.

lol it's funny how desperately you want her to fail. Yes i am sure the truth is they gave away loads of free tickets because the first US date undersold. And no Namo not behind the stage.....in the car park

PS not me or anyone else has said the dates in America are all sold out, i just said it has sold better than Europe.

The New York Times has a very positive review of the show last night.
"Yet the bad-gal nastiness soon gives way to more generous impulses, trading violent shock value for flamboyant showmanship. By the end she’s sharing a big dance party. And the concert is less a story than an excellent excuse for extravagant, perpetually surprising production numbers involving more than three dozen performers, while it turns some of Madonna’s past hits inside out."

Most of the reviews seem to be positive, haven't heard any talking about the fact her career is over as Namo predicted

What the hell? So anybody who has any inkling to play it before should wait? And how do they seek it? With money and gifts like always?

The Times piece is great. It reaffirms and reassures the people who still love her and already have tickets to her shows. Like the record and (mostly lack of) promotion for it, it does nothing to win new fans or bring back into the fold those who have drifted away. But she should focus on that from now on. Do what she wants, stop calculating. Just create.

Saw Madonna's Philly concert Tuesday night. The crowd was a little restless cuz of the no air conditioning and the 10:30 start time, but she put on a hell of a show. Wish I had better seats! She's an awesome performer!

I was at the Philly concert, too. I also thought it was great, although I had to leave early because the show started so late.

I don't know if Madonna realizes that Turn Up the Radio hasn't gone for radio airplay yet. While she was singing it, she kept telling everyone to sing along, which didn't exactly happen. I'm not sure why they didn't release Turn Up the Radio back in June -- it's a great summer song, and now the summer's over.

Madonna's lower register was put to good use during this period. I miss those kinds of songs and performances.

Madonna's shows usually always start an hour after the time on your ticket.
Usually becuase there is no opening act- or sometimes there's a DJ.

It just started late in Philly due to the first US show and trekking the tour over.

so assume 9pm. have fun!
