Yeah... well... I was... um... BUSY (shall we say) with a non-union stagehand. Gave me scabby knees, that one.
Since your'e here, why not answer some (if not all) of your questions?
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
hmm, strangest. I don't remember my dreams much, usually just when I'm subconsciously stressed out about something. The strangest, and I'm not even sure this was a dream or something that would get me labelled wacky, was early in the morning of 9/11 (which is my b-day) I seemingly awoke to a voice telling me "It's not your fault, it's not your fault". I had been struggling with someone's death from a long time ago and thought that's what it was about, but then as soon as I saw the planes and WTC and realized how bad things were I was more convinced it was about that. I can get really down when bad stuff happens in places, on dates, etc. that otherwise have special meaning to me.
What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
I love modern American history and earlier this year a biographer contacted me about a small, short term research job for him. It's been so much fun info mining on his subject and getting paid a bit for it. Plus the subject's life and family history are fascinating, especially before he became famous.
What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
42, with a grad degree in engineering, but still don't know what I want to be when I grow up
and some songs and musicals reduce me to tears almost every time I hear them
If your house were on fire, what material possessions would you grab on the way out?
wallet, passport, keys, camera, computer if there's time
What character from a play (straight or musical) do you most relate to? Why?
probably Mother's Younger Brother from Ragtime - a lot of strong feelings about certain things but not good at expressing them ~
He wanted to say: I am sick of the injustices
He wanted to say: I reject the world's complacency
He wanted to say: Give me something to believe In my soul I am your brother We are bound to one another Angered by the darkness of life And the lies we perceive
Is your screen name a reference to DEAD POET'S SOCIETY, or Walt Whitman himself?
Walt - classic American writers & poets go with the American history interest. One of my favorite classes in college was a humanities class focused on 1920s-1940s American lit. The prof would period dress, had the music playing before class started, showed a film or two, assigned fantastic lit - loved it
Nice job, Yawper. Sorry you didn't have more time and more questions.
Do you want to nominate someone?
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

Oh dear. What an honor. Why, this gives me memories of the first time I was named COD. Thanks, Yawper. I remember how much fun this was the first time around.
Taz, that's a good question. Honestly, I'm probably more like Sally than I am Phyllis (at least off the board), but I think Phyllis Rogers Stone has a better ring to it than Sally Durant Plummer.
As for the character that I most relate to... possibly Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch? While I never went to lengths (heh) she did to keep her man, I do sort of understand that sort of desperation of doing whatever it takes to make your situation work, only to find it spectacularly blow up in your face in the end anyway.
Oh man, that's a hard question, blueroses. There was a once a time when I thought Gwnyneth Paltrow might have made a good Michelle, but that was several years ago. Since Michelle was so young during their heyday, I think Gwynnie's a little long in the tooth now. Honestly, I'll have to think about this one, because no one really springs to mind as appropriate actors for any of the roles.

Phyllis, my questions haven't changed much since your first go round, but maybe your answers have.

Jane - That's a good question. I really don't have an answer for photography. There will be things I see that I like, but I rarely find out who the specific photographer is. For paintings, again I don't have specifics (I'm not really much of a decorator, so I don't usually buy art for my walls), but I do really like the paintings of the German Expressionist period. I went to a museum five or six years ago and saw an exhibit of German Expressionist work and it really overwhelmed me in a way painting usually doesn't.
Shamey, your questions are always good ones.
Let's see - Strangely enough, Follies gave me quite a bit of pleasure in the past year. I discovered the original soundboard recording, which was like the holy grail for me, plus I got to go to the Encores concert. For some reason, that's more of a winter show for me, so I've been getting back into full Follies mode as the weather gets colder. I've also got some wonderful friends who have spent the past year being there for me and doing some incredible things for me, so I'd have to say that my friends tie with Follies for giving me the most pleasure in the past year.
Honestly, as far as this board goes, I think people would be surprised to find out that I'm a much nicer person than my screen persona may indicate.
I'm trying to think what I'd grab. My big ticket items - my tv and laptop - are insured, and I don't really have a lot of stuff stuff . My landlord inadvertently pitched all this stuff I had in storage so I've pared down even more. With the exception of maybe some pictures, I don't really have anything I think of as irreplaceable.
Mauriposa - I'm not sure. I loved the name Kringas and thought it suited me, but I had to change accounts and I liked the idea of being called Phyllis Rogers Stone. If I ever had to change it again, I don't know what I'd choose (and I don't think I'd say, lest someone steal it from me!).
Oh god, Calvin, wouldn't that have been something. Honestly, probably some of the crazier posters (I won't name who), because I'm fascinated to see how much is an act and how much is real.
Calvin, I'd recommend a hearty soup, like maybe a clam or potato chowder. I'm not a big soup person, but I want one that eats like a meal if I'm going to.
And I don't think even ten pounds of fat would make you look fat.
Of those three, it's easy - "Lucy and Jessie." I don't mind "Ah, But Underneath," but I don't like it for Phyllis. Although it wasn't a choice, I actually prefer "Uptown, Downtown" to both of those.
As for "Country House" - feh. It's so not "Follies" and I think it's not that great of a song. I know the Sondheads will kill me, because he's above reproach, but that song is filled with too clever rhymes that don't really mean anything ("You can't afford to be bored with your board"?). It's a lazy, bad song.
