I kinda feel like I'm barging in, but I'm sorry to hear that, wexy.

It's just that the Internet isn't the first place I'd go after I find out my dad's had a heart attack.

I feel like people as a whole are becoming too dependent on the Internet and forget that there are real people outside our office, or bedroom, doors.

The internet wasn't "the first place" he went after his father's heart attack. His dad's heart attack happened on Sunday, not Thursday. Wexy also personally knows a number of "real people" on this board, having met them at various BWW gatherings in NYC. I'm glad he shared the news with us. He has shared his father's remarkable story with us through the years and he's really someone to be admired.

Thanks again everyone. While Evan missed out what a supportive and wonderful bunch of folks are here, he does have a point, I have seen posts along the long the line of "I just stabbed myself in the stomach and I'm bleeding all over my keyboard. Will it stop or I should 911?" (or close to it).

I have friends who have just decided to take their nine year old daughter off of life support. I was best man at their wedding.
I wouldn't normally think of BWW as a place to find support for this kind of thing but I'm betting that at times like these a person needs it from anywhere and everywhere.

Wexy - my prayers are with you and your dad and your family. There are so many things that can be done to help your dad after his heart attack. I hope he is better soon.

(If he is going to Presbyterian in NYC, I used to work there in pediatric cardiology and it is the place I would go for cardiac care.)

My dad had his first heart attack in December, and had a stroke in February (likely) as a result of the cumidin he was taking. Make sure to monitor his blood so that the same thing doesn't happen to him.

We got him up to Presbyterian yesterday and he's hanging in there.
This is really weird. I was going out to get some lunch and my cell goes off and its my friend Nadine who's calling to see how Dad is.
I told that he was transferred and I literally walked right into her as she going to visit her friend who was four rooms down from my Dad and I know the guy as well, he's her coworker and theater buddy. Really small world strangeness.
