Ew, indeed
I don't see any difference.

That is Jackie Earle Haley from the new movie with a superimposed glove, NOT Robert Englund. Robert is the star of the 8 movies in the collections. Many ANOES fans are pissed that Jackie is playing Freddy instead of Robert in the new movie.
This collection artwork is a slap in the face to those fans & Robert himself.
SPOILERS!
Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy:

I'm actually glad Robert is not playing Freddy in the new movie. For one, Robert's Freddy has become WAY too comical and completely against what he once was. Plus, Robert declined playing the part in the remake

From what I'VE heard he wasn't asked.
Not that I mind either. It's time for a change. I know I'm a hypocrite on this but I am glad Brad Douriff is doing Chucky's voice in the new Child's Play remake, which is again to be a return to darkness for the franchise.
They're making a new NIGHTMARE w/o Robert, fine. I don't remember a time I've been less excited about a film coming out but if thats how they want it, whatever. But don't, I repeat DO NOT pull some bullshlt move and put this new Freddy on the cover of the classics. It's honestly just disrespectful to the original films and Robertas iconic as they and he are.
And as for CHILDS PLAY, I've been hoping for another Chucky/Tiffany movie for years now but I guess that'll never happen since they have to "reimagine" that as well. Maybe next year they'll "reimagine" DR. GIGGLES or THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS.

But the Child's Play re-imagining is by Don Mancini, the creator of Child's Play, so I have faith.
It is a bit of a slap in the face, but honestly I can't even see his face so I probably wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been pointed out.
Why do we need a "RE-IMAGINING" of it though? It was already "re-imagined" with Bride of Chucky and than onto Seed of Chucky, two great horror films essentially made for gay audiences. THESE are what should continue to be made, not some $100 million dollar remake.

That wasn't a re-imagining. That was a bastardizing of a franchise, even more so than the a later ANOES sequels.
It is a bit of a slap in the face, but honestly I can't even see his face so I probably wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been pointed out.
But the people who they are aiming at DO know that that is Jackie & not Robert.
I can tell right away that's not Robert. It looks like a char grilled AVATAR.
The make up in the remake is apparently closer to the scars and dis-figuration of real burn victims. Also, it's a lot closer to the make up effects of the original NOES than later versions.

You get a lot of good shots of the makeup in this video from 'The Final Destination' DVD.

I was hoping after Jackie Earle Haley's comeback in Little Children he would be in films with more layered characters rather than him being the go-to villain/creeper/crazy of late. He was brilliant as Rorschach in Watchmen (the only real great thing going in that film) but I just don't see these big-budget action/horror films really fitting him but hey, he's got to pay his bills.

People refer to it as ANOES?
I've only seen that acronym on wbsites that are specifically horror-related, phyl.
Which in a manner of speaking could be BWW too.
I just didn't feel like tying the whole thing out. This bitch is lazy
That's ridiculous. Can't say I'm shocked as this 2010 re-imagining is the only reason they're reissuing this box set.
Also, they're not adding any special features to this new box set? I bought the original dvd box set for 20.00 last year and am more than satisfied with that purchase.
I would have liked a feature catching up with the actors from the franchise. Whatever happened to Tuesday Knight?
Well...maybe I have a bad computer monitor...but how the hell can anyone tell the difference? I mean I can't see his face at all. It's entirely blacked out and all I can see is maybe a little bit of his disfigured ear.

There is a documentary on the ANOES franchise coming out in April. The cast involved is posted on imdb.
It's called "never Sleep Again".
I am REALLY looking forward to the documentary
Will Mark Patton be in it? Whatever happened to him?

The two who won't be in it for sure are Patricia Arquette (Dream Warriors) & Johnny Depp (1 & Freddy's Dead (cameo)).

Holy God, they've got Danny Hassel in it!
He was one of my first big crushes, especially shirtless in Part 5. Damn, he's still one of the hottest things ever put on film!
