I think it is theirs. His website, where I stalk him, uses his full name.
I don't think anyone would dare drop the Jessica out of fear of the backlash!
"where I stalk him"
Haha, I love it!
"where I stalk him"
LMAO, Unc!
BTW someone started a facebook page for him, which I joined before realizing they had spelled his first name with 2 L's. Obviously it wasn't his official FB page......LOL
Well, I do like him as an athlete...I just figured that dropping the middle name was some way to appear "hipper" or more grown up or something...but I have nothing against him.
I hear the Russians are going to be using their Aboriginal costumes in the Original Dance...which I am all for because that country has benefitted from so much bias since Ice Dance came into the Olympics and I really don't care for this particular team...so anything help!
A podium with 2 American team and the Canadian team would be really cool!
Also, I'm sure you have heard about the death of Joannie Rochette's mother today.
How awful for her! She is still going to compete and I hope it will inspire her to give what her season this year has lacked.
Thanks for that picture, Lauren. I used to have a HUGE crush on Eric Heiden. In high school my friend Brenda and I would buy any magazine if his picture was in it! I hadn't thought of him in forever when they put that pic of him up last night.
Also...since the Ladies Singles is starting soon, am I the only one who wants Mao Asada to win over Kim YuNa? I hope not!
You can bet that Sandra and Scott will show their preference to Kim...especially Sandra!
I was just told that history will be made this evening with the Canadian pair. They will be the first African American couple to compete in the Olympics.

And what is the reason why wearing an Aboriginal costume was offensive? Refresh my memory.
Well many Aboriginals have said that it is offensive to them...they must be ones with T.V.'s and not the ones that still live primative.
Anyways, their costumes are darker tones than their actual skin and women are not allowed to wear red or have markings on their backs...Oksana Dominia's costume has both.
It may have something to do with the actual dance too...that it is not truly authentic. However, they HAVE to do certain elements that are required and they want to make it difficult too.
That's the basic reason why they are upset...I'm just running with it :)
From one of the articles on the costumes. This was in USA Today:
"At the Europeans, Domnina and Shabalin skated in brown-toned body suits augmented by red loin cloths, white striping and artificial leaves. Aboriginal leaders in Australia criticized the costumes as inauthentic and offensive.
'It's completely wrong," said Shabalin. "Our purpose was the opposite, to honor them and to do our best with this dance. It wasn't really only Australia. It was about many thousand yeas ago, about this region."
"I was just told that history will be made this evening with the Canadian pair. They will be the first African American couple to compete in the Olympics."
Who are you refering to?
Also...I'm not sure that Black Canadians are African Americans.
I see, thanks MTVMAN. I had heard that they were offended, but I didn't know why.
But I do remember watching the program and thinking it was thrilling. Can't wait to see it again.
I think it's kinda like something where you see that you COULD be offended, so you say that are...regardless of how petty it might be.
For example,
There are some other teams (besides the 3rd ranked American Team) that will be skating to an American Country Dance and I'm sure we could find different reasons to be offended by that...but really it doesn't amount to much.
Or one time I was doing "Fiddler on the Roof" and everyone was pronouncing "Chava" like "Hava" without doing that "throat thing". We had a Jewish woman in our cast who liked to cause trouble and she said that we were offending her religion. I don't really believe that it was hurting her feelings, but more of an oportunity to complain about something petty.
That's kinda what I feel about the whole thing.
I agree with you there. Someone will always be offended. You can never please everyone.
I read that Joannie Rochette's (Canadian World Silver Medalist) mother passed away yesterday after arriving in Vancouver from Montreal.
They said she's still going to compete. I can't imagine. Poor thing.
You know, I think the same thing happened to Angela Nikodinov several years ago, but Angela didn't compete after it happened. the family was in a car accident that killed her mother. Sad.
Part of the reason that Angela didn't compete is that she was also in the car crash and was injured.
I remember that Jane. It was at Nationals in Seattle or Tacoma. I remember them showing Angela in the stands and how overcome with emotion Timothy Goebel was.
Right Dottie, I was just going to say I remember seeing her sitting in the stands, and yes, there was one male skater who was overcome. Maybe someone will remember it. Or I will, weeks later!
It was Timothy Goebel, Jane2.
I'm always mesmerized by the skiing. I could picture myself snow plowing my way down that course!!
You are right, Dottie. Thank you! Now I can stop wracking my brain.
Emily Samuelson is wearing an open back in her country outfit...something that women do not do in country/square dance attire.
Evan Bates is wear chaps...and while "country"...we don't dance in them.
Basically, that is the same validity that the aboriginal costume arguement has imo.
