I fell asleep and missed everything. I woke up to the tv staring at me and tey were talking about the skating "Cold War"! All of Russia is upset over this. Talk about a sore loser. I had a feeling this was going to be a bit of a big thing. Especially after the awards ceremony when Plushenko jumped onto the gold platform and looked annoyed during the National Anthem. Lysacek has been very graceful about it. I was ready to turn it off last night when they started talking about Tiger Woods. Did we need to hear about him during the Olympics?
Plushenko actually kinda stood like that during HIS OWN medal ceremony in 2006!
I miss "Olympic Ice" too! I guess it didn't do aswell in 2006
Does anyone kinda despise (or something like that) the fact that when Apollo Ohno competed at the 2002 Olympics and first came into the public eye, he was know as Apollo Anton Ohno...and now he's just Apollo Ohno.
I really didn't notice. His website uses Apolo Anton Ohno so maybe it is the press that dropped his middle name.
The only time I thought about Apolo that way was when he did that BS ole to get South Korean skater DQ'd for interference. It was borderline but then the South Korean threw his country's flag on the ice, so I called it a draw on douchebaggery.

They showed that earlier in the week. I think it could have gone either way. But the South Koren did drift over.
And what is up with the women skiers just wiping out all over the place?
Yay Apolo! He's really too much!
Sh*t, I fell asleep and now the girls are on. Did Apolo win a medal?
Yes, Bronze. A new Olympics record!!!
No clue.
But if I become a snowboarder, can I look like Torah Bright?
Yes, he broke Betsy Blair's record and now he's the top medal winner for an American in an olympics. something like that. I'm sure someone else knows the details.
He won the bronze in the final race by using a clever maneuver last minute when his initial strategy didn't work.
oh, ok, I got the detail. It's top medal winner in a Winter Olympics.
Why, why, why does my phone ring at the biggest moments? I saw it but missed all of the commentary.
Great strategic and veteran skating (I've been hearing that a lot), but it was a great race for Ohno.
I still hear him referred to as Apolo Anton Ohno sometimes. It's just sort of a mouthful.
I still refer to him as Apolo Anton Ohno just out of habit
I didn't know he stopped using Anton. I still call him that, too.
Yes, he now holds the record for most medals of a Winter Olympian. Previously held by Bonnie Blair. She was there last night. So was Michael Phelps. They say he is a big fan of Apolo. I wish I was in that crowd!
They said on the news this morning that Apolo still has 2 more races, so he could conceivably win 2 more medals.

Not really. I don't find it despicable that his middle name is sometimes dropped.
I find him an outstanding athlete. I love the way he spends his prep time yawning and how easy he makes his skating look. Even when he's in crisis mode on the ice, he seems to glide through the problem. Poetry in motion! Love him!
Boobs and I were cracking up at him yawning last night. We figured he was out partying it up all night and didn't get too much sleep!

Right, LOL. Nah, he's just so blase about it at this point!

I'm not sure what you people are listening to but he's been introduced at the rink, in every race, by his full name. I haven't heard anyone drop the Anton.
The yawning is a relaxation technique, it's not actual yawning.:)
I'm sure what I'm listening to and I'd say that 9 times out of 10, the Anton is dropped.
Yes, the Anton has been dropped a lot. Even the "anchors" for the broadcast are dropping it.

I wonder if it was his choice to drop it or theirs? Is it like someone referring to the star of Sex and the City as Sarah Parker?

While watching the speedskating, they showed the grown up Eric Heiden working with that 19 year old cutie from the US, his name escapes me at the moment, the one who slashed his leg with his own skate.
Anyhow, I hadn't seen Eric in eons. Click on the link to see him now. He can work on my skeletal system any day of the week.
