Oh boy. I'm a little annoyed. They showed us one skating couple, and now it's an hour later........

Well, I am girding my loins getting ready for the awful costumes worn by Belbin and Agosto. I heard that they have new costumes since the nationals. Let's hope so.
I hated her costume for the short program. She was too much under the influence of Weir.
We'll be lucky if they show us more than the top 7's Original Dance!
Even if Canada wins this game they really need to start waking up on defense. Oh and Mike Babcock, who could very well get fired by the Red Wings soon, needs to at least have some pride or he is not getting in Hockey Town or Hockey Nation anytime soon.
DRURY!!!!!!!!!! 3-2 US!
W00t! We won!

OK I am not sure who I am more mad at right now:
NBC for acting like they care about hockey and patronizingly making Canada out to be simpletons from another planet.
People trying to compare this game to 1980. Um no, completely different. Shut up. Amateurs vs. professionals and the fact the US has risen the last decade in hockey.
Mike Eruszione who seems to be off that Nutri-System still trying to milk winning the gold in 1980. I know it is the anniversary but he knows very little about the current hockey national teams. NBC has the best people in the business covering the game and they bring that cretin out?
Willie Geist who needs to stick to be unwatchable at an ungodly hour on MSNBC. Some hockey fan.
Gary Bettman for just being Gary Bettman.
NBC for putting the game on MSNBC and put ice-dancing on the network (And oh boy to what happened there).
NBC for being NBC.
To think I used to like Belbin and Agosto. Didn't like their original dance or their hideous costumes.
I just can't get into the ice dancing. It bores me.

Dottie, neither did I. I really enjoyed most of the others, though. I agree with the standings at this point.
I already know I don't like their free skate either!
By the way, Bob Costas, PLEASE SHUT UP!!!!
They did make some changes to the costumes since Nationals...I didn't think they were THAT bad. To think that with the way things used to go Belbin and Agosto would have been WC's from 2006 on...or at least after the top Bulgarian and Canadian teams retired in 2007.
The Russians...well I didn't know they did that nose thing at the end...and forgot that they made "retarded" faces throughout the dance...Maybe the Aboriginals have more of a claim than I thought!
Poor "D & S" (the top French Team)...that time off is affecting them...and their scores!
I truly wish Virtue had kept her original black dress for her Flamengo dance instead of that "lighter" red one. Just feel so tuned down and less dramatic.
I fell asleep. Now it's effing cross country skiing.
I was out and am now watching the re-broadcast.
Why they feel the need to show that cross country/shooting thing for hours on end is beyond me.

Does anyone remember who was the previous coach of Belbin and Agosto? I think they are with a Russian coach now, and I think that is part of the problem. That music that they danced to didn't resonate with the audience at all. Perhaps if they used that routine at the 2014 Olympics in Russia, then the crowd could have gotten into it. But not in North America. The commenator remarked that the music was too fast for the audience. Pfft. Speed wasn't the issue.
And the costumes were so busy as to be distracting. It reminded me of a Russian folk dance performed on SYTYCD, and Nigel ended up apologizing to the audience and the dancers, because it just wasn't interesting. I don't understand how Belbin and Agosto could have practiced that for all these months, and not realized it was a loser. It reminds me of a routine they did several years ago, I think to some modern swing big band type, and the commentator said something about it not being a good style. Baloney, it wasn't the music style that was the problem, it was their choice of tracks. There's something missing in their camp.
Belbin and Agosto are a great team, but that was not an inspired dance...and the costumes were still dreadful. I still think they should be ahead of the Russian pair. Neither had choreography that came anywhere near the difficulty of Davis/White or the Canadians. Both of them were PHENOMENAL! Such difficulty! I was blown away by Davis/White and thought they were going to be easily in the lead, but the Canadians were on fire...they've not skated that program that well before.
I did appreciate that the Russian pair toned down their costumes (the dark makeup? Please! Can you imagine if lily white Meryl Davis tried to color herself to look East Indian?!) I was much more offended by the actual cartoonishness of the dance itself, especially when he started pulling her by her hair?! Ugh!
What doodle said.

He also dated Tanith Belbin who is rooming now with Johnny Weir at the Olympic Village. I would love to be the fly on the wall hearing what those two are talking about.

Or, as Weir put it, “We’re both divas. The only way they could make us both happy was to put us together.”
