PROP 8 OVERTURNED

So, if A Bush/Reagan appointee who Pelosi opposed is now part of the "Obama Elite" does that mean that Reagan would also be an Obama Elite?
And D2 that was lovely.

D2, that was beautiful.
I find the whole "will of the people" argument by definition unconstitutional and un-American.
What makes the 7 million Californians voted for Prop 8 think they have the right to nullify the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment--or anything else in the U.S. Constitution?
Read the Constitution, Countess. You can't repeal a constitutional amendment by mob rule.

May I humbly suggest you read all of the primary documentation relating to the issues and passage of the 14th amendment. It had nothing to do with this sexual orientation or destroying the historical or contemporary meaning of marriage.
You're stretching it, and on November 2, just how far you have stretched will come fully into view.
And even you know the difference between Count and Countess, don't you?
The will of the people? On this principal our nation was founded.
LOL.

Posted: 8/5/10 at 11:58pmIn the end, reasonable people will have to decide for themselves which factors exert the greatest influence on human sexual behavior. The debate must be won by the party with the strongest argument. It cannot be “won” by the party that controls the government.

No.
You may not.
You most definitely may not.
You may not suggest, humbly or otherwise, what I might read.
You have no idea what I have read and not read. NO. IDEA.
Allow me to humbly suggest that I have read more and know more about the Constitution and the intent of the Founding Fathers than you will ever read or know in your life.

Unfortunately, your posts do not reveal the knowledge you claim. You might need to re-read everything with your mind open.
Bless your heart.

This was from November 2008. Keith's Special Comment then was just Beautiful! He replayed it the other night and I forgot how great it was.

No, thank you. Your blessings are false, coming as they do with such condescending insincerity.

Posted: 8/6/10 at 9:20amI actually really like reading CountAhole's posts. It sums up nicely how idiotic and bias the arguements on the other other side are. Not to mention the proponents of Prop 8 lack any sort of legal basis. Did anyone read the entire ruling? Reading the closing arguements I was almost embarassed for the team representing Prop8.
#137PROP 8 OVERTURNED
Posted: 8/6/10 at 9:28amErik, that is really the point - those defending Prop 8 put on a joke of a case.

That is what finally convinced intelligent conservatives, fiscal conservatives and libertarian conservatives to drop support for the social conservatives on this issue.
They figured that if these are the best arguments the Religionists can juster, gay marriage is no longer a conservative issue.

Posted: 8/6/10 at 9:35amExactly...that's why it makes people who continue to defend it just look...stupid.

Did anyone see this broad on Hardball yesterday? So full of self-righteousness but so little to say.

PRS - I watched that yesterday and busted out laughing. Chris basically said "so, you don't like gays, and that all there is?"
She had her talking points - and nothing more.

Posted: 8/6/10 at 10:26amI pity anyone who has to try to explain or justify Obama's position, or lack thereof, on this issue. He's trying to offend no one, and winds up offending everyone. You can't be against same-sex marriage AND be against Prop 8. I'm all for trying to understand nuance, but this crosses the line to nonsense.

MB - I think once California Supreme Court rules in favor of gay marriage, and then Prop 8 was drafted to take away a right that was recognized, he opposed the process of taking away rights once granted.
Personally, he does not support gay marriage. He also does not support codifying discrimination. But, the problem is that if you do not support gay marriage, how can you enforce that belief if you do not codify discrimination?
It is quite a pretzel.
#147PROP 8 OVERTURNED
Posted: 8/6/10 at 10:53amExactly! But, if he's going to insist on keeping that ridiculous position then he should add, "but my personal opinion and beliefs do not matter because this is an equal rights issue."
