I saw one episode and I don't know what to think. The production value of the show is pretty low. It's so weird how the mic levels are turned down for her screaming, but then up again for the audience.
She obviously learned a lot from Oprah about interviewing. It's a shame Martha didn't attend the same seminar.
Her guests are lousy too, and that set is so weird. Is it in a basement? I can't help but feel it's in a basement somewhere.
I wish the new View would have been:
Martha
Rosie
Rachel
Megan
Well, lildogs, the majority of Americans ARE in areas where they can't get good foods. You can't even buy hummus where I grew up, to this day. There are no butcher shops, no cheese shops, no Italian markets. If the large grocery store doesn't carry it, it can't be bought. I think The Food Network is just trying to reach a wider audience.
I actually love Paula Deen. She is silly in a very southern natural way. Sure, she is over the top, but people from Savannah are generally nutty.
I can't stand Rachel Ray. I don't get the attraction. I would think it MAY last a year, but she has a LOT of fans. She is the favorite star of TFN. I have no clue why. I HATE the little huh-hmm! giggle after half the stuff she says. And the woman has NEVER gotten a bad meal. For some crazy reason in Nashville, she went to a coffee place called Bongo Java for breakfast. She had an English muffin with cheese and egg and a cup one of the signature coffees. She went on and on about how good the sandwich was. It was a FREAKIN Egg McMuffin! Dork.
Perhaps you can't buy hummus, Jersey, but can you buy the ingredients to make it?
You gotta make hummus, it doesn't just COME!
It seems to me that her recipes rely on doctoring prepared ingredients rather than technique and invention. I've been watching for about 8 years now, and it has definitely gotten dumber.
JG2, you crack me up!
Here's a story regarding Rachael's initial ratings:

lildogs, there are TONS of brands of hummus available on the market. (Some are really good!) And no, I am pretty sure there is no tahini paste at the average Tennessee grocery store.
And I must say that I have never made a recipe from her show. Nothing has ever looked that good to me.
I think she's insulted about every possible culture with her dishes. not only that, but I don't think she coudl possibly make another variety of pizza or burger. I'm flipping through the channels and right now sh'es making a "Mexican-style pizza" made of cornbread (made with boxed cornbread mix) crust and piled with meat and cheese on top. Ick!
I once saw her make a Scandanavian burger. A SCANDANAVIAN BURGER. WTF?

She lost me when she started to use the phrase EVOO! Just say OLIVE OIL for christ's sake!
I don't think it would annoy me nearly as much if she just ssaid "EVOO" but she always says "EVOOextravirginoliveoil." If you're going to use an abbreviation, isn't the point that you don't have to say the whole phrase? So if you're going to, why bother to keep around the abbreviation all the time?
Cheezedoodle, she lost me on that phrase as well.
She's become a media and merchandising w***e.

OH MAN! Speaking of merch who*e - that Barefoot Contessa is hawking product at Crate and Barrell. yuck.
Okay. There is NO excuse for EVER using the boxed cornbread mix. It's SWEET for Christ's sake. NEVER EVER people.
And as for the EVOO thing. It would be one thing if she just said "EVOO." I can understand wanting to shorten something. But she says, "EVOO-Extra-Virgin-Olive-Oil," 90% of the time. WHY abbreviate it if you are just gonna say the full thing???
She's a classy lady.
That was a paraphrased quote from The Odd Couple, Jersey. Except in the show, it's gravy, not hummus. So much for that joke.
Sorry lil. I suck.
My eyes!!!!
Oh, there are worse pictures than that of her from FHM.
And then definitely edited some boobs into those pictures because...she don't have 'em on her show.
Even obviously photoshopped those photos are nauseating.
And I love boxed cornbread mix, but I only use it to make a snack every once in awhile when I feel like quick cornbread. I would never use it in the weird ways she does.

But that's the cover of her new cook book "Frat House Holidays"!
oooh, find the spoon-licking picture. That is the worst one.
Oh, Cheezedoodle, I love Ina. At least she doesn't have that "in your face" type of personality.
JG2, I didn't need to see that last photo!

I bet that pie is...well, tart!
Iheart, REAL cornbread is not that much more complicated. It just takes cornmeal, eggs and buttermilk. It tastes SO much better. You can add a little sugar if you like it sweet. That boxed crap might as well be cake.

JG2: That's exactly why I like the boxed stuff. hehehe
And yeah, those FHM pics are GROSS!

Dottie - I think that's why I was so shocked at the product line. I was thinking "Not another one!".
