I can deal with the fact that she doesn't have much training and that she does more easily accessible cooking than the other chefs on the channel, because variety is a good thing...but she's so damn perky all the time it drives me up the wall. She brings out my inner Grinch. Stop being so happy, lady!

Iron Chef America this week is Rachel Ray vs. Giada De Laurentiis! Giada is gonna kick bootay. Giada has help from Bobby Flay and Rachel has Mario Batali. The commercial is funny. Giada is all smiles and laughter while walking down the hall and cooking. Rachel just wears that fake "tasty travels shopping" smile. Ha ha! Can't wait.
I'll have to watch that.
I think Giada is one of the prettiest women I've ever seen.
But I came across Raytard's TV show while eating breakfast, but didn't watch it.
Y'all know about the Rachael Ray Sux Blog, right?
In case you don't

the Raytard Vs. Giada Iron Chef America is on my birthday! I'm so excited. Can't wait!
You're not the only ones Spider - I like her too. She may not be able to cook her way out of a paper bag but she's a young woman who is making a MINT by successfully marketing herself and her 30-min meal schtick to the masses. People here may not like her at all, but there are VAST numbers of folks out there who absolutely love her and follow her shows, cookbooks, knives, whatever, religiously. I say good on her for making good!
Can we not call the woman "Raytard," please?
I will give her that. She has marketed the hell out of herself. She has cookware, knives, cookbooks, a magazine, at least three shows on TFN, a major network talkshow and eons of fans. She cooks like the average cook. She doesn't use fancy terms or ingredients. The average person can't get to an Italian specialty shop to pick up the ingredients that Giada or Mario uses. There were none around me where I grew up. I get the appeal of the idea of her, just not the woman doing it.
I liked her until I actually started cooking her recipes.
After three turned out really bad, I gave up.
And this may sound a little pretentious, but William Sonoma she ain't!
And I apologize for calling her Raytard.
I apologize as well. It's a habit.
I didn't even notice you called her "Raytard", Geek.
My comment about William Sonoma was about her knifeset.
To think they were asking her opinion about "Dancing With the Stars" last night. It's bad enough that she's on everytime I turn on the Food Network, but does she have to invade another channel! The Food Network has also been airing episodes of her talk show on Sunday mornings. No thanks!

That would then make her fans "Tardheads" - lol!
Giada is really nice in person. I met her on the Venice Beach boardwalk over the summer (she was filming a new travel show). She was the only semi-celebrity I met ever, and she just seemed really personable.
I can't stand Rachel Ray, but my mom likes her.
I must agree the recipes she makes suck (because my mom makes them).
Someone thought I was her last month.
I don't see it but they said it was my peppy style.
I think she is funny.
Lucky woman is making a fortune. Wish it happened to me.
She's a huge liar as well. I'll have to find the quote, but I read in a magazine article sometime earlier this year that SHE actually said that her food takes more than 30 minutes to cook. That means that she lies every time she puts out an episode of her show.
I've tried making her food a few times. I have her cookbook. There were onlly about five things that actually seemed semi-appetizing. And the things I did make took a loooot longer than 30 minutes. Maybe it's the fact that she runs around like she just took a few too many Xanax, chopping and throwing stuff everywhere that makes her food take 30 minute son the show.
Or maybe it's the filming. That would make much more sense.
I don't understand why you all hate someone you have never met.
Jealous, perhaps?
Funny you mention that, Corinne. As I read Geek's last post I kept thinking 'obsessive much?'. You (Geek) really need to turn off the TV and start thinking about other people.
Rachael Ray annoys me at times, but some people really seem to be taking it too far. Joining hate groups for someone is a pretty good indicator of what your self-esteem level is. We all don't have to like eachother, and I doubt Rachael Ray cares if people hate her...she's riiich.
She can't be *that* Rich.
Or maybe she is. I don't know.
And what am I jealous of? She's fat, ugly, stupid show, bad food...
None of you have tried my original recipes, but my food is a lot better than hers.
Again, loving to hate someone doesn't mean you have self-esteem issues. It just means you're a vindictive person. I'm a very vindictive person.
I have no reason to be jealous of her. I used to like her, until she got to be reallly obnoxious, and after thinking about it I began to see her flaws. I do occasionally watch her show if it looks like she's going to be making something decent, but barely ever.
But, FW, can you make it in 30 minutes? (LOL)
She's doing very well in the financial department for what she does.
I think she is pretty . . . not hot . . . but pretty
I'd say she's doing okay -- three shows on the air, 30 cookbooks published. She claims to have NEVER watched herself--said her perky would probably even annoy her. I don't care for her style much, but gotta give her props.

She may not be filthy rich, but I would say she is probably making the most money of the Food Network crew.
I don't think she's ugly or fat. She's an average sized woman, with an average face.
I dunno, Emeril's making a nice chunk of change. Yeah, Rachael has more shows, but Emeril's got restaurants and she doesn't.
