I'm really disappointed with the people who went home this week. Melissa and Evan are far and away the weakest dancers in the competition. They're both fantastically talented, but in a very limited genre. The fact that Evan wasn't even in the bottom two this week is laughable. Melissa has been able to adapt well enough to other styles, but the fact that she wasn't in the bottom two this week is entirely due to the emotional terrorism of the breast cancer dance.
Jason, gorgeous and talented as he is, was always on the edge of being sent home, but Janette has demonstrated extraordinary skill in adapting her relatively limited background to other styles. As a salsa dancer, her solos always lacked a certain cohesion, because... well, you DON'T dance a Latin solo, but her most recent solo really showed an incorporation of contemporary techniques into her natural style. Putting her against Kayla, who has some of the most perfect technique I've ever seen on this show, of course she was going to go home, but it makes me sad that the voters chose to send her to the bottom two after all the phenomenal dancing she's done.
