Does it matter?

Innocent people are killed every day. Changing laws isn't going to stop someone from doing it, but if we could change how things are done, this might not happen again.

The Second Amendment was written when the Colonists finished fighting the English with rifles and muskets. They didn't intend it to be used with automatic weapons.

Sane people know how to use their weapons. Crazy folk are the ones shooting up.

I'm upset and I'm angry and people like AbbyNormal think more guns are the answer and that doesn't make any sense.

According to this (admittedly year old) link, Oregon has more gun deaths per capita than Illinois.
Maybe we shouldn't compare an entire state to one city

you guys really don't have much upstairs do you? The states with more guns with less control laws, have less crime. IT IS A FACT. Of course, there are going to be a very select few who use them violently, but millions of gun owners go their entire lives without shooting anyone and only shoot for recreation. There's a whole lot more law abiding gun owners than there are of the violent gun owners and I don't see how taking guns away from them or making it almost impossible for them to buy guns is going to stop the crazy people buy guns and killing people.

You're right, I compared the murder rates between portland and chicago, and chicago was exponentially higher.

Can the argument some people seem to like to say that "Guns don't kill people. People kill people" be finally put to rest? SH*T like this would be so much less likely to happen with *much* more control on such insane weapons. There is no reason someone should live in North America and feel they *need* to own a gun to protect themselves.

So sad. My thoughts go out to all the family's involved.

The murder RATE is higher, I wasn't going by number of people. There are more murders per person than in portland, that's what matters, not necessarily the number of people. If you knew anything about basic math you would know that. Idiot.

But if there were gun laws in place to stop this crazy person from owning or receiving a weapon, then those children and other adults would've been saved.

No one is saying to remove guns completely. No one is going to punish the responsible people.

Look at some of these statistics, and they have citations, all the information is in one place so people like you can understand it.

In florida, when the right-to-carry law took effect the murder rate went down substantially. The same thing happened with texas. In chicago when the handgun ban went into effect, the murders committed with handguns went up. I'm giving you facts, you can try to dispute them if you like but I don't think you'll be able to do it.
