Attacked him with those skittles he went out to buy, right? He started pelting them at the guy who had been stalking him, yelling "Taste the rainbow!" so of course shooting him dead was the ONLY possible way to stop that.

I'm just telling my stance on gun control, you guys were going off on it and how we need to outlaw them and everything, I don't see why I can't show my view too. But I guess when someone's views are different from your own you can't tolerate it. But that's typical of liberals, they're supposed to be so tolerant, yet they're quite the opposite. And phyllis brought up zimmerman, so you can't blame me for that.

Ummm, he was being stalked and profiled by Zimmerman who decide that kid had no right to be someplace he had a perfect right to be.

Since you like facts, Trayvon Martin was fully aware that he was being followed by someone (who was not law enforcement) and felt threatened. Under the Stand Your Ground law, he had every right to attack the assailant...which is what he was.

Which is why it's a HORRIBLE F*CKING LAW.

Wow jordan, you're a lot dumber than I thought. If someone a lot bigger than you was bashing your head into the ground, breaking your nose, etc, and you had a gun, would you shoot him or would you let him kill you? Did you not see those pictures of him after the shooting?

Ummm, how did zimmerman know he wasn't an intruder? There had been a lot of burglaries in that area in the weeks/months before the shooting, he didn't live there full time so he didn't recognize him. He was doing his job when the thug, who was suspended for drug use, attacked him. And now it looks like there's a good chance he's going to get off!

For the record, the vast majority on this thread have been asking for reasonable regulation of guns, not outlawing them.

That's the impossible option everyone, right and left, always jumps to.

But there's another, more achievable, option: Rewriting the amendment.

There was an incident today in China where a man went into a school to try to kill children. He had a knife. No children were killed.

The easy access to guns, especially automatic weapons, makes it that much easier to have results like today in CT.

In my opinion, sometimes, you need to regulate for the least among us to protect the rest of us.

Abby/Unbelievable Anecdote/Hockey Girl/Troll/George Zimmerman's Squeaky Fromme, stop posting please. You brought up Trayvon by showing that son of a judge's purported injuries in the scuffle that is still unclear at this point. That's another tragedy that does not need to be exploited by YOU.

songanddanceman, I could use my viewing of the This Is England movies and series to rage on British racism because I am passionate about it, but you don't see me calling the British Parliament screwed up or the British people behind the times. Just because you did research on something does not mean you totally got into the culture and zeitgeist of this country. I wrote my senior thesis on a film about an event in a foreign country and I would not consider myself an expert on that country in any way.

YWIW is right. Adding amendments is just as difficult as repealing. Prohibition was the last, and only, amendment repealed entirely.

Okay and you're saying it's not possible to get a gun illegally if a criminal can't get it legally? Please explain how they're going to take all the unregistered guns away from criminals that they don't even know exist, because I would love to know.

Why do you think chicago has one of the highest gun crime rates in the US? It's really hard to get a gun in chicago because of all the gun control laws, yet there are more gun crimes there than in oregon, where it is easier to get a gun because there aren't as many gun control laws.
