Saw it two weeks ago when it opened in Australia, one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time, every thing about this works. Rose Byrne is a joy...go see it it's a lot of fun
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Just got back. Laughed my ass off the whole time. Go see it. The funniest movie since Airplane.

Another top-notch comedy from Feig and McCarthy, it just works. McCarthy is at her best in a role that plays to her strenghths and takes advantage of her ability to play broad comedy while giving the character specificity and depth. And once again Rose Byrne delivers a hilarious performance that nearly walks away with the film, which should surprise no one who saw her brilliant turn in NEIGHBORS. The movie is also a parody and a valentine to James Bond films, Law and Statham are great in their roles too.
Having said that, it's certainly not the funniest movie since AIRPLANES.

Saw this yesterday. Up to a certain point it was just okay. Once Rose Byrne's character was introduced into the movie it was hilarious, especially the exchanges between the Melissa character and Rose. Their on screen chemistry is LOL on fire. Don't leave during the credits. At the very end, there is one more scene. I was the only one in my theatre who saw it.

By far one of the funniest films I've seen in years. Miranda is also great in it but this is Mellisa and Rose's film.

For the first half hour or so, I thought, 'This is pretty funny...I'm enjoying it.' But then...
SPOILER ALERT
After her first kill of the guy who switched out the backpacks and was photographing them, I couldn't catch my breath. GOD was this film f*cking wonderful. Somehow it worked as both a send-up of spy films and a genuine thrilling espionage flick. McCarthy is masterful, Miranda Hart was delicious, Statham was a riot, Rose Byrne is a goddamn treasure, Allison Janney is never bad and Jude Law...well, he was looking a little vegan-y.

Saw this today and loved every minute. I don't think I've ever laughed harder in a movie theatre.

SonofRobbieJ, looking back, that's pretty much how I felt (oh god, the silver techno band and the auto tuned shouting!). I honestly had a headache for a couple of hours afterwards because I had trouble breathing for the whole movie after that point. There are so many gold comedy moments in the movie. Definitely miles better than the really depressing Bridesmaids and much better than the very funny The Heat.

Oh god...the auto-tuned shouting was such a piece of throwaway brilliance!
I'm someone who loved BRIDESMAIDS precisely because it had a really unpleasant, dark undercurrent. I thought Wiig was sensational at capturing that and the movie resonated with me for a long time, even as a 'light' comedy. Just the opening chase scene in THE HEAT was more than enough for me, and the rest of the movie was a delight. SPY is just another jewel in the crown of the Feig/McCarthy partnership. He understands that the world roots for her. He lets her be funny and raunchy, but he really grounds her in truth and a shocking vulnerability that fees into the good will audiences have for her. Anyone dreading the GHOSTBUSTERS revisit should look at this track record.

Oh I'm very much looking forward to the Ghostbusters remake.
I think I might have loved Bridesmaids if I wasn't expecting a light movie. I walked in wanting to be put in a better mood and I walked out in a worse mood than before.

BRIDESMAIDS is one of the best comedies to come out of the studio system this side of the 90s. An incisive character study hidden under the veil of a broad Hollywood comedy with a group of insanely funny women who delineate clearly defined characters from the second they step on screen led by Kristen Wiig in a performance worthy of an Oscar nomination (she was rightfully nominated for her screenplay though). Feig's direction is confident, refreshing, and sharp. It's a weirdly underrated movie.
SPY is just wonderful. I can't talk enough about how much I adore Rose Byrne's chemistry with McCarthy. Their scenes together just spark. Miranda Hart was indeed perfect.

I finally saw this a couple of nights ago. Really such a fun, funny movie- and it's so nice to see a film that doesn't reduce McCarthy to "fat eccentric," but rather let her be a glamorous BAMF. There were cheers when she went "rogue" and changed into that black gown.
I could honestly watch McCarthy and Byrne trade insults all day.

SO totally loved this film McCarthy just kills it every time , in fact I can't think of a single character who didn't bring it. (the Shirley Bassey-esque opening credits plus the closing credits with Coopers other missions love throw away details like that)
and the closing bit was a hoot after all her swearing THAT"S what made her lose it!

I was finally able to see this today. I took my Mom and my brother and we all laughed our asses off for two straight hours.
And I think "Thunderc*nt" is my new favorite word.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jordan. The more I think about the movie, the funnier I think it was. Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne should make the next big buddy comedy. They are sensational together.

Have to agree with all the praise for this movie. Great to McCarthy get away from playing "the slob."
