I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the man wearing the black hood walking in what looks like a forest who whips out his light saber is Luke Skywalker.

I am so excited for this movie, though I was really hoping for some of the original characters to make appearances in this trailer.

I do think it's Driver since he's supposed to play the villain of the story. The trailer is alright, nothing particularly exciting.

The figure walking through the woods with the triple light saber is probably not Luke Skywalker -- the narration solemnly intones THE DARK SIDE, after all, and the light saber is red after all.
Yeah, that score still gets my pulse going, but I won't forgive or forget how bloody awful that last four STAR WARS films really are. I'll wait and see before I get too interested in this.

A new teaser has debuted.
I have to say... it looks pretty impressive. Aesthetically so much similar to the original trilogy: an actual, lived-in universe.
And a glimpse of Harrison Ford's return as Han!

I'm excited cause it looks like we will get to see Leia's Jedi training. Also that shot of the Star Destroyer on Tatooine looks sick.

While the weakest of the original trilogy, I still really like Return of the Jedi. Even Empire had its weaknesses (turning C3PO into a buffoon character riding around on Chewbacca's back was pretty annoying). But I agree with you on the awfulness of the prequel trilogy. Have zero interest in seeing them again.

I recently tried to watch the 2nd trilogy again. My better half had never seen any of the Star Wars films so we had a marathon of the original trilogy one weekend. He wanted to watch episodes 1-3 after we did. I warned him they were not as good but he insisted.
I hadn't seen them since they were released and forgot just how awful they really were. We made it halfway through episode 1 and turned it off.

That second trailer had me squealing internally! My entire family is definitely going to be seeing this on the midnight release.

I have categorically refused to see eps. 1-3. Just refuse to acknowledge them as part of the saga. Peeople used to ask me why ( cause u loooved Star Wars!) I'd say, "is there anyone named Han,Luke and Leia in them? Then why the frick should i invest ( lose) 6+ hours of my life with characters I don't care about?"

I'm exactly the same, sabrelady. I thought the same thing and the glimpses of the CGI layer on with a trowel and I was all, no. Thanks. Not for me.

I just saw the trailers (against my better judgment might I add) and they just pissed me off. I am a huge Star Wars fan and knew that once they got bought by Disney that Disney was just going to churn out more unneeded Star Wars films. I find that they may be worse than Lucas with regards to not knowing when to leave well enough alone. The only way I would be impressed with Disney buying Star Wars is if they can get Fox to release their distribution rights of the original and unaltered trilogy and put them on Blu Ray. However, I highly doubt that Fox is going to budge prior to their contract expiring.

I'm a big Star Wars fan. Loved the original trilogy, hated the prequels.
This new trailer has me hopeful and excited though.
Of course, I remember when I first saw the trailer for the first of the prequels I was blown away too.
But I'll be there opening weekend!

Going to Disney, and away from George Lucas, is the best thing that has happened to the Star Wars franchise in a long time.
Hopefully they can keep him away from Indiana Jones too.

I can't tell anything from this teaser trailer other than it has the usual Star Wars icons in it. Light sabers, storm troopers, TIE fighters, John Williams' music, Darth Vader's charred mask, new but undefined and unremarkable characters looking stunned and overwhelmed ...
... with the exception of the brief glimpse of Han Solo and Chewie, nothing got me hopeful, because they really didn't say anything.
At all.
There's no hint at a plot. The dialogue was sound bites from "Return of the Jedi" for the most part.
The only thing I came away with was "Look! It's Star Wars!" But I was burned three times before with that lousy second trilogy. They'll have to do better than that for me to get my hopes up.

The fact that- space dogfights aside- it looked like it was filmed in a real location with real people and not in a green studio with an actor talking to another actor wearing a motion capture suit is what made me hopeful.
And the shot of the downed Star Destroyer looked like one of matte paintings from the original trilogy.
