Thanks to my boyfriend I've acquired a taste for low quality horror movies We love to watch them and laugh and squirm at the terrible gore etc etc. We're talking Sci-Fi movie of the week stuff here. Just a few of the one's we've really enjoyed are;

2001 Maniacs (ghosts of the civil war rise and take revenge on a bunch of horny college students who get lost on their way to florida during spring break. Stars Robert Englund and Lin Shaye)

House of the Dead (1 and 2, starring no one in particular)

The Deaths of Ian Stone (Creatures that feed on fear are punishing Ian Stone by forcing him to die over and over only to wake up in a new reality where he's the same person but everything is different and when he starts to remember a past reality they kill him again, each time more gruesome than the last. Stars Jaime Murray, which helped make it even more enjoyable.)

Lake Placid 2 (tv sequel to Lake Placid. featuring CLORIS LEACHMAN)

ETC ETC ETC (there are lots of others, but frankly i can't remember the titles of most of them)

anyway, i was just hoping for some suggestions that i can be on the look out for.

Basically this is a "what's your favorite terrible scary movie" thread.

you have come to the right place my friend. I am a horror movie junkie.
Between kasie and myself we can keep you in horror schlock for life.

I'm going to complie a list of my faves, in the meantime here's a link to an extensive list of reviews from a site dedicated to
horror movies/dvds:

A horror movie that many people hated or have never seen that I really enjoyed was "Return to Horror High" a mix of comedy and horror which is also George Clooney's film debut. There is a killer that is similar to the Scream guy, although Return to Horror High predates it by at least 10 years.

Another crazy horror film is another Horror Spoof called "Student Bodies".

Slumber Party Massacre II

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Here are some good one that are fairly recent, the (G) next to a title means it is extremely gory.

Severed
Great zombie flick, and as with most "undead" films there is a socio-political subtext. This one deals with deforestation.
re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

Black Sheep
A gonzo freak-out that gets more bizarre by the minute. By the end you'll be asking yourself: "did I really just see what I think I saw?".
re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

Frontiers (G)
Like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but with neo-nazis.
re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

Inside (GGGGG)
HARDCORE. VERY VERY HARDCORE
re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

Wicked Little Things
Freaky ghost story with some genuine chills.
re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

House Of A Thousand Corpses
Karen Black and Sid Haig. 'Nuff said.
re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

And of course my favorite:

Audition
I will say nothing b/c you have to go in fresh, but this film raped my mind. I am still recovering.

Some classics:

Sleepaway Camp
Night Of The Living Dead
Happy Birthday To Me
The Unseen
Shocker

And one newer movie that I really love is The Mist.
You will not believe how it ends.

I really liked The Mist too. Alot of people didn't like the end but I thought it was good. Liked the ending of the book better but I still thought the ending of the movie was pretty powerful.

What is Inside all about?

Inside is about a pregnant woman whose home is invaded by a another woman who wants her baby.
That's pretty much it, but it is incredibly violent.
What makes it so unsettling isn't just the violence though, it's the performance of the woman who invades.
And we get some unique perspective shots from inside the womb so we we see how the baby (which is at full term) is being physically affected.

Ok, yeah, I loved the mist, but this thread is about TERRIBLE horror movies. Movies that you watch and go "why the **** did someone pay these actors?" Or movies where you go "was the director some mute cave dweller from an eastern european country?"

gotcha.

To some extent all the ones I listed above are like that. Most people would think they're trash. So they probably fit the bill.
But here are some that even I think suck, and that's pretty bad.

Automaton Transfusion
Boogeyman
Dark Floors (horrible, really bad.)
Jeepers Creepers 2
Penny Dreadful
An American Werewolf In Paris
Skinwalkers
The Zombie Diaries
Scarecrows

Has anyone seen I'LL ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER?

so stupid and yet so funny in that crappy horror film sort of way. My friend and I saw it at Blockbuster and we had to rent it to see what happened.

<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

OMG I love Jeppers Creepers 2. that movie is hillarious.

Another movie that we watched (on halloween thanks to Fearnet on demand) was Hide and Seek (aka Cord) and it starred jennifer tilly, vincent gallo, darryl hannah and Bruce Greenwood. Gallo and Tilly kidnap a pregnant Hannah in order to steal her baby for the infertile tilly. Tilly is a manic mess. its delightfuly TERBLE.

Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis and Return of the living Dead: Rave to the Grave are two hillarious zombie romps that we watched back to back on sci fi sometime last year. Look those up. Updated On: 11/20/08 at 12:17 PM

Brides of Dracula starring Peter Cushing and Martita Hunt. You may add to that any Hammer horror film. I have enormous affection for those.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP is just rip-offy brilliance!

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. re: Terrible, no good, very bad, horror movies...that you love

God, I will never forget seeing Manitou as a child. That was hideously hilarious. Another truly bizarre piece of nonsense was the made-for-TV movie, The Horror at 37,000 feet starring William Shatner. Here is the synopsis from imdb.com:

An architect and his wife are flying from London to L.A. with an altar from an ancient abbey secured in the plane's cargo hold. Also aboard the flight are Buddy Ebsen as an pushy millionaire, William Shatner as a drunken, cynical ex-priest, Tammy Grimes as a nutcase, and Chuck Connors as the lantern-jawed pilot. Crew and passengers come into jeopardy when an invisible demon escapes from the altar, and threatens the plane in an effort to destroy the architect's wife.

It is one of the silliest horror flicks I've ever seen.

I also have fond memories of The Stuff. Killer yogurt from outer space. YAY!
