"I'm just reflecting on the hate-filled abuse I suffered here yesterday."
Remember weeks ago, I told you HG was not your "friend" when you tried to play nice with him. I hope you are finally going to learn to ignore his posts.
"Not the same thing. Daniel Radcliffe is a lovely and decent guy, but to me at least he is not a star."
Disagree Jay. The "Harry Potter" films were huge worldwide, and he is a big star. He has gone on to perform on Broadway and recently won Tony award. The stage door line of any Broadway show he has been in has been unbelievable with people trying to get him to sign their Playbill.
Let me be the one to bring back civility with simple recap of the debates -lol
Debate 1 - Trump wins easily because Biden is so incredibly bad. That performance led him to dropping out of the race.
Debate 2- Harris beats Trump by all accounts including conservative media outlets. Trump is just not likeable and to put it kindly is very "loose" with the facts. Trump is a horrible in debates and I thought that back in 2016.
Debate 3- Vance wins against Walz who is quite bad especially in the beginning. Looks incredibly nervous, calls himself a "knuclkehead" and did nothing to help Harris. The most important decision a POTUS nominee can make is their selection of VP nominee and from this performance last night Harris has to be shaking her head. Even if you hate Vance and I am sure 99% of people on this board do, he came off last night as calm, friendly and confident.
"I don’t believe that all Trump supporters deserve to be exterminated. I try to remind myself that many (most?) of his voters are just plain stupid. That’s not their fault… right? They have little capacity to withstand the torrent of lies and propaganda. These people actually believe that FoxNews is “news”. Sad."
Actually Jay, Trump won in 2016 because the people in "flyover" country wanted to give the middle finger to the elites and liberals like you who think they are stupid. Try to remember that in the 2016 primaries, Trump beat quite a few established Republican Governors and Senators. That happened because people were fed up with the establishment and were willing to give a big, loud obnoxious businessman a chance. Hillary Clinton should have won in a landslide in 2016 but her contempt for the "deplorables" and generally being disliked personally led to her defeat. Liberals like yourself will try to say she lost due to America being sexist but that is so wrong IMO. I had to laugh at your "Fox News" comment. The liberal networks (ABC,CBS,NBC) are just as bad, only they just report "news" the way you want to be informed. Remember, these networks thought the Hunter Biden labtop was Russian disinformation and refused to cover the story. Guess, they were wrong Jay -lol.
Even in 2024, Trump has millions of supporters. Personally, Republicans made the wrong selection for their nominee. After 8 years his support is still fairly strong and the reason is they still have contempt for liberals who think they are all stupid, racist and homophobic. Whether you agree or not, they think Trump fights for them. Finally, the difference in people like me and many liberals is I don't think that people that disagree with me politically are stupid. I also don't want them to be "shot in the head". Whether "Kdogg" was joking with that comment or not these are the wrong times to be making a comment like that one.
Hi, just to say that this thread is six pages of conversation. It would be unfair for the moderator to delete it just because one person decided that’s what they want. A thread never "belongs" to an OP and they don’t get to call the shots.
Thanks Zeppie for your comments - I’ll read them properly when I get the chance!

I agree with you, thread does not just belong to OP but I am willing to bet HG will get his way. Just by changing the title, HG is doing his best to stop the conversation. HG loves to bloviate but when he gets challenged with different opinion goes back to his usual plan of attack which is name calling. The man who preaches and lectures us about "posting with kindness" sure does not practice what he preaches -lol.

Your welcome. You may not like some of them but at least we are civil to each other over differences. There is no name calling and personal attacks.
I know I was criticised for throwing the old cliche 'is this the best you've got' RE: Trump and Harris, but I'm sorry all you need to do is listen to the VP debate OR if you have the patience (I assume many of the idealogues here do not) to sit for 2 hours and listen to Tulsi Gabbard and it is clear that the current presidential nominees simply do not have the intelligence or authenticity to do this job. I hope after this election this is going to be the end of electing mediocre people in the top job.
Or if you don't have the patience here is Kamala Harris embarrassing herself with Tulsi in the 2020 Democratic primaries. Also striking how much Joe has declined since then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4fjA0K2EeE
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I don't really disagree, but the fact is that one candidate is the leader of a dangerous, retrograde cultural movement and the other isn't, so it's a ridiculously easy choice to support Harris.
I hope Trumpism dies away soon so I can go back to supporting anti-establishment candidates in my non-swing-state.
You mention Gabbard; I'll just say that she went from being one of my favorite elected politicians to pure garbage in an alarmingly short time.
I think her endorsement of Trump is a little surprising and feels almost opportunistic. However, is there anything that she actually says beyond that particular issue that is 'garbage' or has changed from when she was 'one of your favourites'? I.e. what is the issue beyond that? She still appears to hold the same views.

Yes - for one thing, she's revealed herself to be a transphobe - but, given how I feel about the act of supporting Donald Trump, it seems superfluous to discuss anything else. That's all it takes in my book.
Meghan McCain threatening to expose Harris for something that will ruin her elect hopes? Why is she so vile?

#45 left his people stranded again at a rally this weekend because he didn't pay the bus company. About 1,500 people were left having to walk 2 miles, some elderly, in the middle of the night in a off beaten field near Coachella.
A gentle reminder that he DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU!
