If it's living, i.e. food, drink, housing, entertainment and transportation, on 25 dollars a day, it's interesting.

But since the unspent money rolls over and it seems to be about eating, drinking and going to the theater on $750 for the month, it's not interesting.

@Jungle Red, you're not ruffling any feathers but you did in fact ask for suggestions and the overwhelming suggestion seems to be to tell your friend if he's going to see if he can "live life" on $25 a day, he should introduce some real hardships beyond not being able to go clubbing as many times a week as he would like because right now, his challenge is perceived as artificial and a bit silly. Better for him to just do a blog about great inexpensive restaurants he has found or discounts he has come across than trying to make it sound like he is making huge sacrifices. Lower income people who really live on a fixed income for whom even eating in a restaurant once or twice a month is a luxury would not be nearly as amused by his "hardships" as the folks here. Whether you share the reaction here with him is of course up to you.

My GOD, how I wish I had $750ish to spend on food and entertainment each month. lol

I can't believe a 33 year old man writes that poorly. At first I thought this was some 19 year old who just moved to the city from the Midwest.

I find this whole notion laughable that it's a hardship to live off $25. Maybe I would be a little more on-board if it were $10 a day. One of my suggestions would be to not live in Hell's Kitchen where everything is automatically more expensive. Also it seems like the "challenge" is for a month but not everyday so I'm confused by its parameters.

Just read this blog. For someone trying to get respect from people, he sure does a lot of insulting of different kinds of people. And poor him for having to wait 15 minutes for a check. I'm crying for him.

I also have a little less respect for this since he admitted he works in a restaurant and does get free food on his shift. What really is the point of this if he gets that part of the week and it sounds like he is just trying out cheap places to eat? And also I feel the roll over for each day is kind of cheating.

Wow... I'm embarrassed to know this guy after reading the first few paragraphs of the first post. I'm actually surprised because his Facebook is free from most of these mistakes.

Again, we were friends when he lived here. We only talk now on Facebook and that isn't very often.

I'm guessing "metropolitan gay boy" must be some kind of code for "I have a sugar daddy paying most of my expenses" Otherwise, I'm having trouble finding the relevance of the term in the title of his challenge. Is he implying that it's more of a challenge for gay boys to stay within a budget? And if so, can we put the blame on Auntie Mame?

A 33 year old male referring to himself as a "boy". Did I read that correctly?

I was embarrassed by his choice of empanadas, embarrassed he spelled empanada wrong in the title, and I'm beginning to wonder if he doesn't have a fridge or kitchen or anything. If you're trying to survive on a budget (however weird and unspecific that budget is), you should really make your cheese and mayo on white bread at home.

Eating out? I thought he was a metropolitan gay boy.
