Wasn't Katherine Heigl on that TV show "Roswell" a few years back?
Just curious--good luck with your exam and paper!
Yep, Jessica.
Geez, the plot for this is so damn predictable. Heh.
He didn't say anything about being taken seriously, just that he wanted to get some more movie roles.
There's another factor too. Going by my memories of being in high school and college, for a lot of you making a living is probably not in the forefront of your concerns, but it's tough sometimes. I'm in a cheaper part of Long Island, with no one to support except myself and a couple of cats, and I can't live on much less than $80,000 a year. Adam's expense are probably much more than mine.
Also, I would bet the fatherhood angle in the script appeals to him, and he really does seem to like Chris Columbus a lot. I don't think he'd do just *anything.*

Hey, all! I just got back. I have the cast recording of Urinetown, and I like it a lot, but it's soooo much funnier live. What a fantastic show! I've had a wonderful day.
Great Allie - there's no high like seeing a terrific performance.
Back to NFL Dad, here's a quote from the writer, who's a woman: "The tone is Kramer Vs. Kramer [in depicting the father-son relationship] and Jerry Maguire. It's not a kids' movie. It's an adult movie."
There's an interesting interview with her that I've linked. She grew up with a lot of additiction in her family (three close family members died), and came to the conclusion that going to dark places was an easy way out, so she wants to write things that go the other way.

That's...interesting. It could be really good...it could be otherwise...I'm curious who Katherine Heigl would be...Yup, she's Izzy on Grey's Anatomy and was in Roswell (whoever asked)
Well, if it's not a kids' movie, it could probably benefit from a better title.

It's not uncommon at all for a movie's title to get changed after feedback from test screenings. I learned in my marketing class that Pretty Woman for example, was originally titled 3000, but that was changed because test audiences had no clue what the title meant.

Not all get changed... Snakes on a Plane, anyone?
Yeah, the combination of Chris Columbus and that title leads to quite a different picture than the description the writer gave.
They should change the title.

It sounds...awful. But IMDB is *hardly* the source for up-to-date, accurate casting news. Someone on CB did an experiment awhile back and got James Earl Jones listed as Collins for the Rent movie. So until there's a press release or info from reliable sources, I wouldn't get too concerned.
Agreed, skittles, that's why I emphasized the rumor part. But after a little investigation, it doesn't sound as awful to me now. It all depends on how well the script is written.
If I walked into a movie theater and saw the title 'NFL Dad', I would NOT go see it.
Right, me either.
Me either. It sounds like it would be about a father who pushed his kid too hard. One of those silly movies with a cheesy ending.
Like, Angels in the Outfield, where Danny Glover is the big mean coach, but by the end he turns into a softy and adopts the kids.

Oh, Mandi, that's a great movie. *waves arms*
It is a great movie.
And for a more sports-related example of a movie being renamed after test audiences reacted negatively towards the title, Field Of Dreams was originally called Shoeless Joe (after the novel it was based on). The movie title was changed because it made test audiences think they were going to see a movie about a homeless person.
Awww, I loved that movie! At the end when everyone stands up and starts waving their arms so that the pitcher can strike out the last player to win. *sniff*
They don't make movies like that anymore, just really bad, watered-down variations. Angels in the Endzone! Airbud plays basketball, baseball, football, golf! Why can't Disney be good like they used to be?
Oh man, don't get me started on how far down the toilet Disney has gone since the glorious 90s
