Em - Funny story. Let's see her try and tab out the progressions!
Could I have the song, too? If you don't already have them, I have Adam's two songs from School of Rock to make it a fair deal.
Guitargeek, I hope everything works out for you with figuring out how to play the songs. My brother plays guitar, and he's always looking up "tabs" online to figure out how to play his favorite songs. It's all like a foreign language to me!
Em, that is rather amusing. It's kind of fitting that Adam's music seems deceptively simple at first listen - like the man himself, it's more intelligent and complex than it looks.
Sup, Elphie.
That was just a lame attempt at ganster-language. Uh...I mean, slang.

Em, would you care to share with me as well?
Whoever said his chords are decievingly simple was right on (from the little time I've put into trying to figure it out). His stuff is just simple enough, with an inversion/added note(s)/etc to make it complicated.
ETA: I'm watching Law and Order for like, the first time ever (that's sad, I know. I don't watch enough tv). Jesse's funny as a serious cop...he really should break into song and dance :)

I really like that song. I wish I could understand the words better, but I get the general idea. The melody is really good, different from anything else of his I've heard.
I think I remember that post on LJ about his supposedly easy chords. She came back later and said, whoops, I was wrong.
BG, that's a great analogy and very true, I think. The same holds true for Elton's music to a certain extent. A lot of people think of them as simple pop tunes (and a few of them are), but he uses a lot of augmented and diminished chords and ones with indeterminate roots within a progression that feels like simple traditional pop.
My dad just told me to go to hell. :-o
That wasn't very nice of him.
Elphie, what's wrong? *hugs*

Jessica is so... poetic. Hee.
Okay, I'm off to blow dry my hair. Unfortunately. Grrr, I have no patience for it.
Sorry to hear that, Elphie! *hugs* I hope everything's settled!
No, it wasn't! And he said it over and over, like 10 times.
I...don't know what's wrong, exactly. Apparently I made him mad.
He's under a lot of stress?
I'm really sorry Elphie.

Sorry, Elphie. You're pretty much the sweetest person ever, so I'm sure it's just him.
It's okay. He's gone now, so I'm sure he'll be fine when he gets back.
Aww, thanks, Lexi!
I mean, I was arguing with him, but he sort of started it...

Awww, thanks Lexi *blushes*. As much as various classes I've taken have made me dislike writing, I sometimes can't help but write in the sort of style that I know teachers like. I guess I did learn something from all those years of papers and creative writing assignments :-P

I didn't mean to kill the thread...oops.
Happy thoughts: The week's half over!
I like Apology...although, this sounds familiar...

*pokes head in*
Whoo, finally finished my (overdue) essay, so I don't feel guilty posting on BWW.
*waves to Amber* You know me, often here when no one else is.
I hope all's okay, Elphie.
I was reading a few pages back, and noticed that you were talking about Yassmin Alers. I thought the name sounded familiar, so I had a thought, pulled out my RENT playbill from five years ago (yes, I always save my playbills, which probably isn't all that strange). Sure enough, she was Mimi the day I saw it! I remember being impressed.

No worries, I have nearly all of mine (and my mom's). It's rather amusing some of the people I saw without having a clue. And then to see former chorus folks who've gone to be amazing!
I don't have my 8 am class in the morning *celebration dance*
I didn't make a habit of saving my Playbills until recently, but I think I might have a few from shows I saw when I was younger. I'll have to look for them when I go home this weekend.
I started saving ticket stubs and playbills about two years ago, although I do have some random older ones.
I have ticket stubs from most of the shows I've seen from 2000 on and I have programs/playbills from shows I went to with my mom when I was younger. There are just a couple random ones I'm missing.

Not too long ago when cleaning out her room, my mom found her playbill from when she saw Phantom on her first trip to New York...in 1989/1990.
Woah.
One of the coolest things I found was in a Playbill from a show at the DSM I saw in summer of 1996...an article on the Rent phenomenon...NYTW, selling out its run, moving to Bway, being amazing. I won't lie...I might have gotten a little excited...
