I know you'll all hate me for this, but I kinda have the opposite problem. My parents LIKE to pay for stuff for me, but I prefer to pay for myself because, well, I should be. I always argue with them over simple things like movie tickets, etc.

So, now who wants to switch places with me?

My parents are funny about money. Sometimes they complain about giving me money, even though I NEVER ask for it. I think they're worried that one day I'll run out and come running to them for cash. But then other times they'll offer me a check to put in the bank for food or something, and I'll feel bad taking it from them, but they won't let me not.

I had a few friends who liked to pay for themselves when we were younger ... I always let my parents pay for things they offered to pay for because I knew there'd be 70-80 years of me HAVING to pay for stuff. :) Although I own my house, I don't turn things down. I got a grill for my birthday. I offered to sell "sponsorships" to rooms in my house. Buy me a grill, get the "Official Deck of Dad" out back. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight

It's smart to work on being financially independent, then life after school won't come as too big a shock.

My parents ask me how much cash I have in my wallet just about every time I see them. Every time they give me money, they mark down how much they've given me on a sheet of paper they have in the house. They have no problem with giving me money but get mad at me when I let myself run low on cash, so I try to use my credit card unless I don't want them to know what I've bought or I go somewhere that's cash-only (*coughtktsboothcough*)

They way I have it set up is that my parents pay for everything school related: books, small meal plan, tuition. And I look after everything else: rent, cable, phone, internet, hydro (last year I was also paying heat) and any other extras. They buy me groceries if they're around when I run out.

In other news, I've applied to colleges, now it's just waiting for the acceptances.

Thanks. I guess the good thing is it's now out of my hands, and it's something I don't really have to think about for now.

Good luck, Sarah! Like you said, you've done your part, now the ball is in their court.

Good luck, Sarah! I know what it feels like to stress over college related stuff, so I hope everything goes well for you.

I absolutely dread speaking to my grandmother. I love her, but if I don't call her exactly on a weekly basis, she gets angry. I love that I'm typing away on here as she bitches at me. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight

I'm not sure if I posted this last night, but there's a cute story from someone who's met Adam a few times here:

https://www.adam-pascal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15&start=45

I tried to tell her that she should join this thread and share the stories on here, but it doesn't sound like she's going to. Heh. Updated On: 3/18/06 at 09:47 PM

Thanks for sharing that, Lexi. Adam really does seem to like kids, like that girl on IMDb said. She sounds like a sweet girl, too.

Chloe, I've found that the adam-pascal.com boards are much like the IMDB boards -- a lot of mindless babbling (of course, I do absolutely none of that here re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight), but you'll occasionally find a good story on them, too. I spoke with the girl who posted the story via AIM for a bit and she's very sweet, not to mention mature for her age. I'm amazed at how many performers she's met!

I'd feel guilty about failing to call my relatives a good amount of the time, but most of us just... don't get along.

Thanks, Alex! I've been on a bit of a Conan kick ever since the Finland episode. I've watched him on and off since 8th-9th grade. I, naturally, like your avatar a lot too. :)

Awww, that's such a cute story on the A-P.com board.

I probably should call my grandma more often. I mean, I see her pretty often considering that she lives down in Florida, but as much as I love her and feel like she's the person in my family who I take after the most, I just can't stand talking on the phone in general, especially if I'm the one calling. Something about it just makes me feel all nervous and queasy no matter who I'm talking to.

I'd feel guilty about failing to call my relatives a good amount of the time, but most of us just... don't get along.

Same here. My parents don't really get along that well with most of their relatives, so family get-togethers can be pretty tense. When I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago, I felt like I was taking sides in a war by going to a baseball game with my uncle, and I hated that feeling.

When I first checked out those boards, they hadn't really gotten going, so I'll go back and look again now. And of course we're ALL models of clarity, maturity and common sense here!

I thought the "it's late, shouldn't you be in bed?" question was adorable! Although, I hope he doesn't end up asking me that considering I look young for my age (if and when I ever get to meet him). re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight

Jessica, I loathe the phone. I always try to keep conversations, even with friends, as short as possible. I always sound so awkward.

My parents and various family members don't get along well, either... but on top of that, my parents can't even agree on what family members they like and dislike. I always end up siding with my dad.

ETA:

A model of decorum and tranquility... ok, I'll stop.

Chloe, to be honest, you still haven't missed much. I think I've reposted almost everything that's worth reading. There are about five sane posters on that board. Jessica -- remember the "What's Adam's favorite color thread? I need to knoooow!" thread that was quickly deleted? Heh. Updated On: 3/18/06 at 10:42 PM

Hi, guys!

I just went shopping (well, like 2 hours ago) and brought a pretty skirt and really amazing shoes!
...And ugly hiking pants for the rainforest.

Oh man, I always think I sound weird on the phone. I don't know why, I just do.

My parents and various family members don't get along well, either... but on top of that, my parents can't even agree on what family members they like and dislike. I always end up siding with my dad.

Heh, it's the same way in my family. My dad still gets all pissed-off at any mention of my mom's cousin who didn't come to my brother's bar mitzvah - and that was 4 years ago!

Heeee Lexi, I was just about to mention the favorite color thread! re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight

Elphie, that sounds fun! I love shopping. I'm going to the Mall of America in Minneapolis (well, a suburb) tomorrow. I wish I owned more skirts, but I'm not really into the peasant skirts and that seems to be all that's for sale at many stores (besides your run-of-the-mill miniskirt).

Jessica, I wish I had saved that thread! It was hilarious. The sad thing is that I'm pretty sure the girl was totally serious. I WILL NOT BE A TROO FAN UNTIL I DISCOVER ADAM'S FAVORITE COLOR.

I hate when there is an awkward silence on the phone when you are talking to family members. Especially my cousin..

I don't know how interested anyone really is at this point, but broadwaysecrets were apparently posting earlier today. Unfortunately, none of them are especially intriguing.
