Okay everyone, it's time to play(said the same way the audience says "Wheel...of...fortune on TV"
Long posts with Panda!
Getting to the show wasn't too pleasant; my mom's not one to enjoy getting there a couple of minutes before the show starts. I promised her next time we'd get there 3 hours early...
But once the show started, it was great! I saw two postings on the substitute board and I kind of prayed and this time Norbert was out; Jason was in. I love Norbert, but I was just thrilled I would finally get to see Pryce.
Oh but Laura was out
The show...let's see...
First off, there was a group there, High School maybe? The audience was completely filled; completely sold out. It was a GREAT audience. Aside from John's last, I haven't gotten to attend the show with such an enthusiastic audience in a while.
Now, I noticed a lot of changes from the last time I saw it. I wonder if it was that these were changed in the past 2 weeks, or they were things Jonathan himself said or did and since I hadn't seen him yet, I hadn't seen these changes.
Sorry, I'm just thinking and my thoughts are jumbled so this post is probably gonna be all over the place.
Jason was once again great! My mom was disappointed that she couldn't see Norbert(fortunately she saw him in March so she wasn't that upset) but she thought Jason was wonderful. He definitely was. He had good chemistry with everyone, and a great deal of energy.
There was thunderous applause after Great Big Stuff; with audiences not being as great as they've been in the past, it was great to hear that. And I was really happy for Jason
The high school or the group seemed...to have some kind of connection to Greg? Or just really loved him because they laughed soo loud at the pencil joke and lots of other stuff, and all stood for him at curtain call. It was funny, I kept turning around when I heard other people cheering so much for him to see if somehow I would surprisingly find one of you there. I'm assuming that wasn't the case, but it was great.
Oh, Mylinda's definitely growing on me. She seems more comfortable in the role and has really made Jolene her own.
Umm...let's see, a bit on Rachel. I preferred her Here I Am to the last time, but still her highlight is "Nothing Is Too Wonderful To Be True," followed closely by "Love Is Your Legs." She has such a great voice, and having seen her in such different roles, she's so versatile. I just can't say enough about her (obviously). She too is more comfortable as Christine. She seems to generally play it a little more innocent, but you can see some things brewing. I love the way she says "I Do That A Lot" after she conks Freddy out. She definitely says it with a glint of evil or at least...cunning in her eyes. It's definitely believable she would say it that way, but it doesn't give away so much that you can still believe she was just stupid and does that a lot. Oh, and I love her acting with Nikkos. Again, just really demonstrates her versatility.
Of course, Joanna and Greg were wonderful as usual(and Joanna came out the stage door...took a picture. So that's...3 times I've seen her come out in umm...ohh, anyone wanna estimate how many times I've been at the stage door after a performance? Hmm...maybe I'm better off not thinking about it...)
And finally...Mr. Pryce. Where oh where to begin...guess I'll go through the show chronologically.
There was a funny bit added into the train scene where Freddy deciding where to go Pryce compared to Hamlet's decision.
Oklahoma?-not much differences, but it amused me because he responded to her during the show. "don't you love it when..." Pryce: not really, etc.
He did a lot more admiring of his tushi than John did..interesting
Ruprecht...oh boy. The one upsetting thing is I've heard how hard he's been laughing during this scene in the past--he kept a perfectly straight face tonight. I don't know whether that's because it wasn't with Norbert or he's getting more experienced at not laughing. Nevertheless, I can see there are lots of differences in this scene. Sometimes it seems like lately every time I've seen it, things have been a bit different. But still, tonight was unique. Freddy's humping goes on much longer--he goes from humping Lawrence on his lap and ends up lying forward on top of him and humping--Pryce tries to get away, and eventually has to fall and crawl on the floor to get him off. Everything else different is just Pryce's way of playing it. When he tries to get Ruprecht to take his "nap" he waves the napkin while singing rock-a-bye baby, and then covers his mouth.
Ooh funny moment...Pryce tonight: "When a bit of D-F-Ray begins to fray, then goes astray." I love catching these things, b/c I could see him recognize **** he was supposed to say DNA but then he just goes onto the scene and me and maybe 2 other people caught it and laughed. Honestly, the way they can just go on like that after a silly mess-up is nothing to be undercredited.
Okay, back to scene. When talking to Ruprecht, Pryce does it more--baby-like? When he gets him up and tells him Ms. Oaks wants to know all about him, etc. A couple little changes that made me laugh as I wasn't expecting them. Sure I've given enough details on the changes now and you all are screaming at me for doing so. Sorry
Shiffhausen was hysterical!! For the beats that he enters with, Pryce kinda jumps from foot to foot. You can see how much fun he's already going to have. And wow...I know it was hysterical but honestly I can't remember anymore specific differences. Maybe you have to see it for yourself anyway. But yeah, so funny.
Oh haha, he gets down on knees to "pray" with Joanna before running off with Rachel.
The More We Dance I was excited for. Now I always said they should have Lawrence do a little more dancing because of Pryce's talents. I don't know if it was him or someone else putting it in, but I was really excited because when he starts the first chorus of the song, he starts doing this hip/butt shake...exactly like he did in The American Dream! My mom and I looked at each other and we knew we were thinking the same thing. Hehe, it was exciting. Sorry just had to share. Otherwise, I'll just leave it at saying it's really nice to have someone who actually can dance...quite well at that...sing The More We Dance
Love Sneaks In-oh boy. Just gorgeous. I was so excited to hear this, and it didn't disappoint. I mean, fantastic. That's all I can really say. I mean, same with Dirty Rotten Number. Great.
So Pryce overall--the wig looked fine except for "Shiffhausen" where it seemed to be falling off. That happened with Parlato the last time I saw it. It's cute, Tom's wig when he's sitting in the chair pretending to be Lawrence was changed to fit like Pryce's. I mean Pryce plays the character differently than Lithgow. I really like both portrayal's...honestly prefer Pryce's singing and dancing, but of course there are things I miss about Lithgow. I will agree he seems...a tad old...well, I believed Lithgow to be the subject of "What Was A Woman To Do" more than Pryce. Oh well. That aside, he already seems to have great comfort and understanding of the character, and obviously added some stuff for himself that worked wonderfully. He was just...great. Lawrence is in wonderful hands
Now, my mom saw the show with me at the end of March. It had officially opened a couple weeks before. She really enjoyed it, but looking back for me, there were some early changes made that worked better, and as a bit of time went on, everyone grew more comfortable into their roles and better chemistry developed. Also...okay I will preface this by saying she is not a huge Lithgow fan in general, but she thought Pryce was much better. She too adores Rachel for similar reasons, and she loved her. So she said she liked it a lot better this time, even though she liked it a lot the first time. She was rolling in hystericals all night; it was great. Good night for her to come.
Ooh! One more really funny moment. At curtain call, you guys know right before the 3 leads come out, everyone kind of crosses over--Greg goes from(audience's perspective) left to right. Well, again there are lots of times I think I'm being looked at but I'm wrong, it seemed like as he was crossing he was looking in my direction(same last time I was in front mezz). Anyway wherever he was looking/whatever he was doing it seemed to get a bit much of his attention--Joanna was behind him....and pushed him to keep moving! You could see him turning around surprised and Jo was laughing. It was really funny, especially if I decide for the fun of it he was looking at me
Umm let's see after. Kevin said "Grinch" as soon as I came to the stage door, and I said be nice, my mom's here. He made a big sigh, said "oh no..." and went back inside. Heh. He adores me so...
Umm, a few really cute stage door moments w/ my mom there...meh, I don't feel like posting most. PM me if you want the details of those.
Oh, one I have to share. Jason peeked out for a bit and you know people were like oh, could you sign? And he was like oh yeah I'll be out soon I promise I just was looking for someone...hey! This girl walks toward him, he explains it's his little sister, and they hugged. Soo cute.
Quickly since this is Greg's thread lol, he had somewhere to be...it seemed as though him and Julie and Mylinda and Jonathan? were going somewhere together; I think they all got into a car. Anyway, Greg still took a minute to talk to me and my mom(that was so great of him). Reacted to my mom as though she was infamous, and congratuled me on my relative tallness to her.
Really great, fun night. It actually meant a lot. I'm sure you guys have some family members or friends that like...you know you talk about knowing Greg or something and they're like oh...that's...cool....like they're happy for you, but wouldn't think it was the greatest things themselves. That's how my sisters were. But my mom as we left was saying quite a few people coming over and knowing me and hugging and talking to her was just...really awesome. And I dunno, it just made me really happy for her to think so. Maybe I'm weird, I dunno. But we both had a fantastic time. I love this show.
But when oh when to go back?

I would love to see the show with Joe Cassidy.
How many times is that now Amanda? O.O
Congrats to finally seeing Mr. Pyrce as well.
OMG, amanda, i am SO HAPPY to read about the things you said about mr. pryce!
you make me want to see DRS again SO MUCH. you have NO IDEA. cuz when it comes from you, it means a lot, haha. (just thought you should know. :) )
but, yeah, i'm so happy about the pryce love! yaay! but, i'm afraid that i'll have to take your advice and see other shows first, haha.
and that's so cool about jason! and high school audiences are the best.
Good morning all!
My comps still dead...although I've yet to try to fix it yet (I'm on a school comp now).
In 2 days I've run over 3 curbs...I'm quite the menace...
Rent DVD was sitting on my desk this morning :). I might have to pop it out and watch the documentary... I can't control myself.
Anyways, I have to go out and then go to the Y, but I'll be back in time for the cam.

ok so my piano teacher...i hate him with a fiery passion. last week he had to cancel my lesson because he was going to be out of town (my lesson is on friday afternoons) so he emailed me thursday morning saying he wanted to have a makeup that afternoon. well i'm in classes all day, so i can't very easily check my email. then he went out of town and since the time had already passed, i didn't respond (what was the point, i didn't get it till like 12 on thursday night) and apparently he called me, but as panda knows, my phone is 1) broken but 2) i can't find it...so i physically do not have my phoen right now.
so he just sent me a nasty email saying that he is getting increasingly frustrated with how hard it is to get a hold of me, and if i miss one more lesson he is going to lower my grade. thats only the second lesson i've missed! and i only missed cuz HE was gone. he is such a frustrating person. he asks me things like "how do you have time to work? shouldn't all your time be devoted to homework and practicing?" and he says it in such a condescending tone that i just wanna slap him. i'm like ok yeah you try to come up with 18,000 bucks a year to go to school...THATS why i work. sure, i love my job, but i only work because if i don't, i don't go to school. thats the way it works. so the fact that he can ask me why i work is ridiculous. i am only a music ed major, not a performance major. he wants me to practice 25 hours a week and honestly, i don't. and i'm not going to. and he needs to stop pushing me like that because its making me want to die. it puts SO much extra pressure on me.
but his email..i don't know. it just has such a nasty tone to it, like hes totally judging me as a person, and i just hate it. but i don't know what to do. its really far into the semester to change proffessors, plus they already shot down that idea, they told me to "deal with it". so thats out. and there really is nothing else i can do. which SUCKS. like woah. so i have to write him an email back but i cant right now because if i do it will be mean and bitchy and not good...so for my own sake i'm gonna step back from it for a minute and write the email later. but seriously, he makes me hate playing piano. and that is not good. i dread every time i have to see him because he always has some way of making me feel like a ****ty person. ugh.
ok i'm done now. sorry..had to vent to someone and you guys are the best.

sorry, Ali! maybe you could use the e-mail as a strong backup for a better teacher? like have a meeting with one of the higher ups or something. he's obviously intimadating you, and making you hate something you should be enjoying. i don't know. i hope you can work something out.
Frustrating. My mom is a piano teacher actually.
Where IS everyone today?
I'll just be lonely in the corner I suppose.

i'm around multi-tasking...as in painting my nails, watching greg, days of our lives, and talking on aim.
I'm so hungry...
So Greg decides to taunt me with candy!

i'm here!
but...only for like a half hour. lol then more class! wooooo
we're actually going to be watcing music videos in class today, so its not that bad. althought they are by marylin manson and tool...a little heavy for me, but eh. it'll be fun
how is everyone? who is even here?
I am, obviously.
Trying to think up clever things for SLUT.
I'm here now.. just finished writing a paper for class.. I feel accomplished!
Somehow when I log onto BWW and see the Greg thread, I remember it's a cam day.
*coughseventeencough*
Aww, thanks Jamie! That means a lot to ME! Always nice to know my ramblings are well received
But I told you to see other shows before you see Piazza again, right? I definitely didn't say it about DRS. Of course I'm biased but...I don't know. Between some cast changes and some changes within the show, I think the show is different enough that if you want to go back and you seem to love Pryce so much, it's justified for you to go again.

half an hour passed without a single message on a camday....oooooh,
Guess we're not a lively bunch today. I think I'm gonna do some work while I'm in my school's computer lab and in a work mood. Will probably nap when I get home. So I should be around for a bit..how was your day Annie?
Broadway Legend Joined: 2/1/05
quiet...there was no work today so I did my Illustrator stuff and sent it home when I finished it...how are you?
Not bad. I went to bed at 3:30, so much better than I've been doing, but of course had to get up earlyish, so still only got 6 hours of sleep.
I thought I'd have to be really occupied with work today, as I have a test in my telecourse(a course I teach myself and learn at home, so I have to do my own work/studying for) and a speech on Friday, plus my meeting with my clarinet so I want to do some playing to give me firmer muscles. But, I don't think it's as bad as I anticipated. My last chapter for the telecourse is short, only like 15 pages, and I have most of the stuff I need for the speech. And I'm not falling asleep...3 good things.

...lol. You are tough Amanda...oh, and Greg is fast...he just read three e-mails I guess (I can see three names).
Amanda - do you know what the capital of Hungary is?
