Should I be worried?
Em, I think I stared at your avatar for about 5 minutes, and forgot what I was about to post. Aha! I've finally discovered your master plan. Distract innocent posters (such as I) with amazingly hot avatars (such as Jake) to the point where they're brainwashed. Clever, but I know your secret.

Btw, I *love* Patti.
I love how Mano's like "I'm just going to ask Michael and Patti what to do." and then Patti is like "Meh I don't know!"
eta: How can someone *not* love Patti?

Yes....that was funny. Poor Mano. He's so clueless.
That was cute. Mano is adorable.
(The guy at the end "Do you have to wear a suit to get in?" Heh, that amused me.)

I would be worried about Mano, but he already mentioned Michael Kors.
hahaha Patti!
Haha, Patti was so funny. "I eat. I'm Italian"

First, hooray for the Fan's Choice Awards!
Now, the real reason why I just had to log on right this minute and post on this thread: I just watched the Broadway.com backstage video (yeah, I even waited until the whole damn thing had downloaded before starting it). Really, the more I learn about this show and its actors - the more I read, the more I watch, the more I hear - the more I love it.
Yeah, yeah, I'm sure I've said similar things before (and I am anything but a theatre critic/expert), but I...I've just fallen in love with this show. Even from that little Broadway.com video, the cast seems to have an incredible dynamic, such passion for the show and so much camaraderie (for lack of a better word). Seeing the articles about Victorian mental patients, Mano's inspirational photos (hee, Gollum!), Lauren Molina's paintings, I get the impression that they have all put so much work and have such great insight into the play.
I admit, I often listen to online Broadway radio stations (I know, I know, I'm a dork) and I've heard quite a lot of songs from the Sweeney revival cast recording. Once, recently, "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" came on. I looked down at my hands (I knit a lot while listening to music) and saw that they were shaking. Shaking! I was trembling, my breathing had grown heavy, my eyes were open wide, I felt prickling at the pack of my neck. I can't remember any piece of music provoking a physical reaction like this. Just so powerful, so intense!
Ahem. Okay, I think that's enough for this installment of Zyla's Love Letters To Shows She Hasn't Even Seen. However, I can sing more rambling praises of Sweeney Todd if, for some strange reason, you feel like reading them.
And one more thing - I completely agree with the new heading. "Manoel Felciano has a great name," indeed. At least he doesn't have a hyphenated last name, of which both components would be long and complicated enough on their own!
Edit: Just realized I misspelled Lauren's name - sorry! Fixed it now.

Zyla...any plans to come visit us New Yorkers any time soon? You NEED to see the show.
Edit: OMG, I just realized that there's a recording of DLC singing God's Song on iTunes. Yay!!

I've probably mentioned this before, but my mother's very interested in this production as well; she really wants to see Patti LuPone. So there is a possibility of me seeing it...no real plans yet, but there's at least a possibility.
I really hope that it works out.

POSSIBLE WAY SPOILERS
Saw it my 5th time tonight, but from the first row. PLEASE hand him the Tony NOW! I have never seen a more intricate and complete portrayl of anything in my life as I have seen him. His breaking down, crying for the last half hour, literally snot and saliva running down his face(I honestly don't know how to cue runny noses), getting ickiness all on the muffler and him not bothering with fixing it. At the end he becomes so broken and just a total wreck and makes things more disturbing and tragic about how it ends.
Tonight during Miracle Elixer he jumped up to the edge of the stage and pointed his bow straight in my face and it was so totally out of nowhere, I had to cross my eyes to see the tip. He must have some good bow-aiming skills cause he was less than 2 inches from my face with that and I didn't see it coming. Then he pointed me at the end of the song for "if you got a tick sir". I was glad to be pointed out twice . After the show, Lauren took me backstage and on my way out, he was at the mailboxes reading a card a fan sent him. I told him that we all appreciate how elaborate and progressive he has been with the role and how each time coming is like a brand new surprise. Definitely worth the money seeing it so many times. Watching him onstage is not the same as meeting him outside in person by any means. He hardly becomes recognizable onstage and if those reasons aren't enough to hand him the Tony then Jim Dale better be doing a really damn good job considering it seems he has the best chances.
Just thought I should tell you guys how blown away I was by him now more than ever, even knowing everything inside and out. Watching him mouth the words or play along with Pirelli out of the action is just so fascinating and there is never a dull moment because there is always somebody to watch even if the action is slow(which it is not ). Night all, hope that encouraged you to spend 111.25 to get your asses back to the theater and show some love in exchange for seeing one of the most remarkable experiences ever. I've never had sex, but I can't imagine it beating out Sweeney (hah j/k...I think)
Your last sentence is amazing.

Some of them laughed at me after the show, I literally get so excited when watching the show, they all must hate me thinking "wow what a distraction having to look over and see his face with the stupid smile on the entire time, its a tragedy for Godsakes". Ben said if he forgot a line he knew where to look. Hey I would not mind being their personal teleprompter as long as I saw the show
I'm also sad because today I took the last person I would take to see it with me. I have nobody else who wants to see it. Anybody wanna meet up when Judy Kaye comes in?

See, I knew I wasn't the only Sweeney crazy who simply gets this unexplainable high from seeing the performers raising their instruments and reinventing a classic before your eyes with completely insane orchestrations and beautiful performances. To watch these actors functioning like a machine onstage filled with life and top-notch material, what could one ever ask for more from something out of Broadway? It is shows like this that stop me from questioning why I love this kind of stuff so much.
It was aggravating missing their solo performances because I would love to see them handling themselves on a different medium and hearing their music as opposed to what people give them. However, when things get scheduled on a Monday or Sunday, that becomes a no for C because of school (which is completely over in 3 days!). And yes I must echo your distress over such a perfect performance not going down in Tony history(possibly). I am seeing Threepenny next week and I'll be able to see what Dale is made of, which from what I've heard is very good. I guess it just annoys me watching a developing performer mapping out a character the way he did and with such skill that deserved more recognition than people give him outside of the Eugene O'Neill and on this thread basically. And it REALLY upsets me seeing people undermining what we take him for and really just not crediting him with giving us a really great show. OH and maybe the fact that he has never missed a performance as told to me by Lauren Molina. She said her and Manoel are the two who have never missed a single performance and they understandably pride themselves in that. I can't recall a performer with that kind of record since October 3rd 2005, almost 8 months.
And this summer we are seeing Kaye :)
Or better yet, imagine having sex and watching Sweeney at the same time. Ooooh!

I'm just still taking in all the expressions I saw or things I managed to catch, not just with him, but everyone. Hands down the tightest and most effective cast on Broadway. I picked up on Jacoby reading the Bible before Johanna, I noticed Lauren talking to herself contantly the entire show, getting more of a sense of the personalities behind the patients playing the characters, just going deeper and deeper with observations of things that continue to amaze me.
I love reading what you have to say, theres a reason you created this thread, you are the best with the insight and good discussions of this revival. Okay now time to bust out the confetti :P Oh and sleep, that too!
Good morning Mano therad. C is for Company, it sounds like you had a great time. I feel exactly the same way. THere is just so much on that stage. SO much beautiful, chilling detail to reflect upon for entire days after seeing the show. And, in my opinion most importantly, a cast whose dedicatoin is hands down the greatest of any I have ever seen.
I was considering doing rush tommorow, but your posts have convinced me to definitely go again. :)
Have a lovely time, crazy bitches!
I dunno. I'm SURE Jim Dale is excellent. He's a veteran, he's a Tony nominee. He's got to be MORE than good. And I wonder if the fact that almost everyone who sees the show apparently seems to think so (even if they hate the show), whereas there are quite a few people who dislike Mano (seemingly often because they dislike the interpretation of the show as a whole) does dictate what's going to happen on Sunday.
