But wait - they've got the Barrymore between 8th and 9th instead of between Broadway and 8th!? Heaven knows, I've spent enough time there with COMPANY to know where it is. Wonder if Piven will get the main dressing room this time?
The dressing room Raul had for Company is actually connected to another room, which they turned into a green room for the cast to commune and hang out. I don't know if they'll keep it that way for a show with such a small cast, so I'd assume Piven is going to get the big one.
My mother was asking what I was snickering at so I showed her the tagline, and she didn't get it. Hahah.
And yeah, someone should fix that about the Barrymore.
Anyone else think this would be a delightful segue for Raúl after Speed-The-Plow? It would also fit in rather nicely with his recent penchant for fantasy and genre work.
I saw the prior production on Broadway. Big yawn! It would be nice to see Raul spend a lot of time on stage in a tux, but the play seems terribly dated. This is a stellar producing team. Wonder what they see in this that I don't? Does lend itself to some starry stunt casting.
For anyone who doesn't have the DVD, here's your chance to see "ShowBusiness: The Road To Brodway". It will be airing on Showtime all this month, starting at 7PM (et) Sunday September 6.
Among items in the silent auction at the Westport County Playhouse Gala (the pricey benefit Raúl is performing in on the 15th) is this:
"... and a backstage tour of David Mamet’s satirical Broadway comedy “Speed-the-Plow” with its star, three-time Tony nominee Raúl Esparza, including limousine, dinner at Sardi’s and show tickets."
Hee... I love that rehearsal footage where he's dancing around in his manpri pants.
Now, mother always said that whenever you hear a strange, frightening, and potentially life-threatening ghostly chant coming from the dark woods that there's one thing that you should do: Not wake the others and go investigate it alone...

Ordered a Speed-the-Plow ticket for a performance in the middle of previews. It is always interesting to see how things change from an earlier period in a run to a later, more "mature" performance.
