But you're hearing this from HER, not the new boss.
Never.
Leaving.
The mom came home...
The houseguest was crying and apparently had talked to the new boss...
They don't need her to start until next Monday...
She is staying until Monday.
The dad hasn't heard this yet.
Rath, I think you may be right.
This is one time I wish I was wrong.
Sorry, honey.
*sigh*
The ongoing soap opera...
JG2, why don't they just tell her to stay in a motel until Monday? Seriously, this is starting to exasperate me, too!

do you think these are real tears or more manipulation?

Start burning things with disgusting odors outside her bedroom door. Nothing like the smell of burnt calf's liver to make someone leave.
harris can probably get you some.

With all the anger she is causing and stuff you are doing for her, I'd agree with SM2 and put her up in a motel until Monday.
Just say "We decided you should have a motel until Monday when you start working. We've paid for it until Monday."
AKA- we never want to see you again!
Well, we all (minus the houseguest) had a long talk about it. She has no money. Her brother sent her a little last week and I am sure she has spent most of that on smokes. While the rest of us wouldn't be dumb enough to find ourselves in this postition (we hope,) we would hope someone would be willing to help us out. The dad said, "If we were the kind of people who would kick her out, you wouldn't want to live here with us." I guess that's true. Hopefully she will remain unseen like she has. The mom said that we would just go on about our business and try to ignore her. I will not make the mistake of inviting her out with us again.
Oh well. It's always nice to have something to bitch about.
"She leaves tomorrow. Or we all die tonight. Either way, it won't bother me in the morning."
best. post. ever.
okay, seriously, this is getting ridiculous. her welfare should be none of your or the family's concern at this late stage. they've done all anyone humanly should do, and more. it's time to forcibly remove her from the house and change the locks. the father of the family really does need to step up and take the welfare of his family in consideration by having her leave. now.
and, jg, if you're making this up, you're so not going to camp next summer. and if you do go to camp, we just may make you bunk with brendan stryker.

You have quite a lot of BWWers to chose from.
You know, I WISH I was making it up. You can't write crap like this.
the word "sucker" comes to mind....she has it made........
If you are Brendan Stryker you can...
i know. i know. but what i cannot understand is that if she can afford $40 for a carton of smokes, why can't she afford to spend that money on a cheap motel. nj is full of 'em.
there's a time to do the "christian thing" and then there's a time to do what needs to be done. this woman (in effect) had stolen from the family before, is kind of stealing from them now, and will continue to steal from them as long as they meekly allow it.
the "other employer" will keep putting off the start date and then the "other employer" will all of a sudden not require her services. it is enough.
it must end. give me the address, and i'll put her out myself.
Bravo, Robbo! Well said!
No Robb! You'll hurt your back!
it'll be worth it.
Not to me!
I just read all 10 pages of this, and have nothing to say that hasn't been said yet.
Just...amazing. *shakes head*
I thought I'd had a few bad houseguest experiences...

i betcha a nickle this "other employer" is a fiction.
i mean, wouldnt your host family be the first people they'd call for references?
& if you were hiring an au pair, wouldnt you want them to move in asap? especially if your previous one bailed on you unexpectedly?
"Well, we all (minus the houseguest) had a long talk about it."
I think you need to start including her in these discussions. Bitching and moaning about her behind her back isn't going to solve anything. I think she's oblivious of your resentment and may not realize how unwelcome she is. Stop putting on a polite facade and let her know how you people really feel. There's no need to be diplomatic at this point. (Not to sound harsh or anything.)
This is the best Movie-of-the-Week thread ever imagined.
Can we sell it to Lifetime?
It's really not a thread, it's a "pitch," completely formed and ready to go.
Or better yet... let's sell the thread as a reality TV show...
"Take My Nanny... Please!"
RobbO, where do you live that cigarettes are $40 a carton?? They are around $7.50 a pack here. The hotels around here are not cheap. Even the really crappy ones are pretty expensive until it gets cold.
I wish the situation was different. None of us likes having her here. The mom now thinks that the black eye she had upon arrival might have been given by the boyfriend. She thinks maybe that is the reason she is not giving them the full story. She can't tell them that she was seeing him again. They don't want her to feel like she has no where to turn. Eh, it's only five more days and I am planning on spending much of the weekend in the city.
