I hear ya. It's not about trying to get someone deported at all. After what her boyfriend did, who knows what he's capable of? What if he comes back and robs them blind...or worse? They have a young child to protect. This woman should NOT have access to this house when people aren't there. The locks should have been changed as soon as that happened.
She's taking advantage of kind-hearted people.

Well if a crime was committed against her by an American she may be able to renew her VISA. There are interesting laws aroundt those things... though sometimes the best thing to do is just sever ties.
As far as her taking advantage of those people... um.. they hired her. That's part of the immigration issue we have here right now. We need them for this and that, but when they ask to stay it's a giant mess.

The crime was committed against the employer, not her. Her boyfriend stole their credit card and car.
"As far as her taking advantage of those people... um.. they hired her."
Yes, and then they fired her.
But you have a point...people will take advantage of you only if you let them.

Mejusthavingfun, you might have to read the entire thread to fully understand how this young woman is taking advantage of this family. Now, if she were pitching in, that would be a different story. But, she's not.
I just try to think like Judge Judy. I like her clean policing of things. She needs to go, point her to a shelter. Although in Georgia she will probably end up in enslaved in prostitution ring. I'm not joking either, this happens a lot to wayward young girls in eastern Europe.

Don't pee on my au pair and tell me it's raining!
LOL @ blueroses!
How about:
WIN OR LOSE BY HOW YOU CHOOSE (YOUR NANNY)!
This is from 2002... sadly nothing has changed there. She's probably better off on the streets here.
"Young women in some rural areas could not rely on law enforcement officials to protect them from the persisting custom of bride kidnapping. Prosecutors reportedly habitually declined to indict the perpetrators for kidnap or rape, telling the victim or her family instead to reconcile themselves to the fait accompli. Likewise, the authorities' failure to make sustained efforts or adopt legislation against trafficking of women allowed networks fronted by employment and travel agencies to continue to lure women into being trafficked abroad for forced prostitution. Oh, as far as this family, they live and breathe autism. They are a champion for lost causes. She is the first bad experience they have had with the live in help (which they have had for ten years) and they wanted to give her a chance. They didn't fire her, but when her year was up, they were happy to see her go. I mean, they had an old au pair from Australia come last year and use their basement as a hostel for a week with five friends. They didn't mind. The difference there was that they paid their own way and told them how long they would be here. They would help anyone out. This girl is just taking advantage of them. But, she is leaving tonight. I think. lol
edited to change spelling. For some reason my champion had an a!

:) glad she'll be gone, Jersey!
Oh hell no. I am in front of the tele by 10 tonight.
I will believe the bitch is leaving when her toothbrush is out of the bathroom!
and i thought MY life was exciting. jg, you should write a book.
JerseyGirl, what part of new Jersey are you in? Do your kid's parents have any interest in arts therapy for him? (Sorry for the threadjack. I found something about some programs VSA of New Jersey offers if they hadn't heard about it. I'm doing research on inclusive theatre/arts programs nationwide.)
Son, he is very highly effected. I doubt he would enjoy anything like that very much. If it isn't Disney related, the kid doesn't care...lol. But thank you for the idea.
And people...
are you ready???
wait for it...
wait for it........
wait for it...............
All of her toiletries have been removed from the bathroom! dun dun dun!
She's still here, but it looks positive.
Are they gone or did she just hide them somewhere else?
Hope it is for real this time!
It's really strange those people didn't call the authorities. It is their responsibility to report her for living on an expired Visa. I'm surprised they haven't been called yet by the INS. (not really you really think home-land security exists?)
I'm not so sure, JG2. The same thing happened in THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE. They fired the nanny, but she returned that night with a vengeance, fire poker in hand. Beware...
justmehavingfun: I don't think her visa has expired yet.

Maybe she's planning on using yours? Just kidding...
I hope.
She is not on an expired visa. It expires in three months.
Apparently she is leaving first thing in the morning. The dad called her and said one way or another, she has to leave tomorrow. Taking her to the train at 7 is going to be a pain, but the mom said, "I don't care if I have to drive her there myself, as long as she leaves."
OMG...I can then be a really weird individual on the 7 train if need be!

but...but...but...if she leaves, i'm gonna have to deal with my own problems!!!
What happened to her sleeping at the new job tonight??? She's never leaving.
Never.
Apparently that was not okay with the new boss. Seriously, what kind of family hires an au pair and doesn't let them move in before the day they are supposed start working? Doesn't matter. Isn't our problem. She leaves tomorrow. Or we all die tonight. Either way, it won't bother me in the morning.
what does it say about me that I logged onto my friend's computer (I'm feeding their cat) just to get an update on this?
stay strong, JG2!
