And here I always thought I was alone in my hatred for raisins ruining an otherwise fine piece of food. As a huge fan of apple strudel, I'm always horrified to slice into it and find raisins.
(That Miracle Whip/olive dish on the other hands sounds amazing...)

I share Eric's dislike for raisins in apple strudel.
I don't like them in rice pudding, either.
But raisin walnut bread is quite good, particularly if you have golden raisins.
As for figs, the fresh ones are delicious. And fig jam is wonderful on a cracker with Roquefort or Stilton. So is cherry jam.
