Eric, The count is still Alive and counting. Jerry Nelson who performed him and worked very closely with Henson for many years passed away in August, though. He was one of the most integrel members of Henson's family. In addition to Count Von Count, he performed Gobo from Fraggle Rock, Harry Monster, Floyd, Robin, and hundreds (literally) of others.

Stephens is a 24-year-old "model/actor" who lives in Pennsylvania and was previously arrested for robbing $250,000 in jewelry from a music manager at knife point. It's not known how the relationship with Clash began or how long it lasted, but a friend of Stephens noted that he "attracts these high-powered men." The same friend also said Stephens was a "God-fearing guy" and "not just a pretty boy."

And they are always "God fearing" good boys who just made one small mistake. But they are "God fearing" so we should forgive them with no questions asked.

You have any idea how much money Clash gets from various recordings, DVDs, residuals, merchandising etc? Maybe not visibly high powered but def a cash cow!

Another accuser has come forward and Clash has resigned. The statement from Sesame Workshop: Sesame Workshop’s mission is to harness the educational power of media to help all children the world over reach their highest potential. Kevin Clash has helped us achieve that mission for 28 years, and none of us, especially Kevin, want anything to divert our attention from our focus on serving as a leading educational organization. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street.

I'd love to see Grover and Elmo in MONDAY AFTER THE MIRACLE.

There are others who perform Elmo, so he won't be dissapearing.

I always wondered why Kevin was so public about his job. Before him, I don’t think any of the other puppeteers ever made a name for themselves, so why was he allowed to do it? The Muppets have always been about their appearance, and they never were ‘puppets’ in public. You never knew who the artists were behind the puppet until he came along.

I guess if you are going to put yourself out there, you better expect someone to take advantage of the situation.

More people should prepare for this, but every time it happens, people are shocked! The Patraeus scandal, John Travolta's neverending accusations, etc. When will people learn?

Everybody knew Jim Henson, though TD. And he often performed Kermit while sitting with him in the chair on talk shows. Eventually we got to know Frank Oz, too. I remember when Clash went public being surprised to see he was black, so it was a nice challenge to my suppositions.
