Although there were some audience members who seemed upset that Tina went on for Frieda last night, many of the LMSDFWUDSCZ fans were very excited to see a different take on Helenica, no matter how much we love Frieda's version, absolutely nothing against Frieda meant in any way, shape or form.
Anyway, in many ways Tina did everything Frieda does in almost exactly the same way except for the fact that she definitely made Helenica her own. Except for a few minor quibbles I may have had with some of the choices Tina made, I think alot of it might have been nerves because from what I heard on the LMSDFWUDSCZ board, she had only rehearsed with an assistant stage manager and a broom handle.
But it didn't show. Rest assured, LMSDFWUDSCZ is definitely going to thrive when Frieda leaves, which I know alot of us have worried about since she is SUCH a star.
Some of the cool things I noticed:
During "World, Hello!" you know how Frieda waves with her thumb and four fingers extended and her pinky turned down? Tina waved with all five fingers which I thought was really symbolic of a more open Helenica, but don't worry it's the same Helenica!
For "Hey! Don't Try to Stop Me!" Tina forgot the skirt flip which made David chuckle a little and all the LMSDFWUDSCZheads in the audience went crazy because we were all kind of in on it because we know the show by heart. But they were really professional and after they got it back together they went on right where they stopped, it was AMAZING. I know so many people who wish they could have seen it, I wish I could have smuggled my video phone in but after I got yelled at that time by Nasty Usher I have been too scared.
After "What Have I Done?" you could of heard a pin drop and Tina did a little gasp of air that about half the audience didn't even seem to notice but it made it really sad.
The dance break during "I Told You So!" had so much energy it was mad crazy. It literally blew the roof off the theater.
David's "Sad Sad Sad Lament" was so heartbreaking, the fact that Tina sneezed during the last verse didn't even take away from the emotions. I'm going to assume the sneeze was an accident and not a choice Tina made because I can see no logical reason Helenica would sneeze right then since she's supposed to be frozen in shadow upstage.
"Finale B1" reeked of awesome because Tina looked sort of like a little kid who didn't hit one wrong note during her first piano recital (except for the sneeze, which isn't technically a note). There was so much love on that stage at that moment and you could tell it was real and not just Tina and David acting the love of Helenica and Blaine. Naturally, "Finale B2" was indescribable. Simply there are no words and when David gave Tina a bouquet when he came out for his bow, well, I don't even think half the idiot tourists knew this was only the first time she had acted the part with anything other than a broom.
So allinall it was a spectacular LMSDFWUDSCZ, even though Angela covered Tina's usual chorus track which made ZERO sense since Angela is black, so the less said about that the better.
Was anyone else there?
Thank you.
I'm naming my firstborn child Helenica. Even if it's a boy.

I know! Somebody on the LMSDFWUDSCZ Board said Frieda is in tonight "if she has to have a crane to prop her up on that ---damn stage."
was there a student rush?

Don't even get me started on student rush. It was insane. You know how small that lobby is. PLUS the performance was sign language interpreted so between the angry people demanding refunds because Frieda was out (which just shows you how stupid idiot tourists are because Frieda's name isn't even above the title - DUH!) and the fingers flying in every direction, my friend who won the lottery almost got her eye poked out by the ASL person trying to sign "bull-sh+t"!
Did Tina wear her hair up like Frieda, or did she wear a wig?

"my friend who won the lottery almost got her eye poked out by the ASL person trying to sign "bull-sh+t"!"
I can't breathe.
I would imagine she wore that brown wig with the bangs. It's much uglier than Frieda's but Tina works it.
What pissed me off so bad was that it wasn't listed on
facelessgypsygetsbigbreak.com, which is supposed to list when the understudies are going on!
I forgot about the bangs, but I've only seen it 15 times, LOL!
Oh, I wish that I could of seen it. It would of been spectacular.

I know, facelessgypsygetsbigbreak.com thinks their All That while they are So Not!
She wore a wig with the same brown bangs but with frosted tips!
Namo, you're such an effing moron! Tina isn't fit to wipe Frieda's saggy ass. I saw Tina in as Lolly Gagger in ROFLLMAONHAHAANDWSTC and she did nothing but scream the entire show. Literally scream, like in a horror movie, but for 3 hours non-stop, except occasionally to take a breath. And yes, I know what I'm talking about because I've watched every episode of AI and that's real singing. Plus she is so wooden and I don't have to tell you what that means. Everyone knows how wooden she is all the time. F'rieda (learn how to spell her name before you think about reviewing her or her show, idiot) is a goddess of the theatre not only on Broadway, but in every country that has a theatre. And yes, I know what I'm talking about because I watched the Tonys's every year since I was two and my mom said she new I was going to be in the theatre when I cried when F'rieda was snubbed for her flawless performance in 1026. It was clear then that the Tony people would never allow this great artist to earn the respect that she deserves from us all. If you like Tina, then your stupid. If anyone could take over for F'rieda, especially in LMSDFWUDSCZ, which they probably cant because only F'rieda can play that roll the way it must be played, it would be Agnaytha, but I already know she won't do it, but don't ask me why because I can't tell you, but I no. And by the way, everyone knows Tina stole the five finger wave from F'rieda because F'rieda originally did it in previews, but Riedel said it looked stupid so the director cut it and the choreographer changed it before opening night and now Tina is getting all the credit for F'riedas brilliant moves that she originated herself. Geez...BLOG MUCH?
And no, the sneeze was not an accident. Tina added it to try and make the roll more different because she's stupid. I know because I was there when it happened too and everybody talked about it on that other site you apparently don't bother to read before you post this stupid crap.

Ok, but MUCH more important than anything stupid thing that happens on stage.....TINA SIGNS! Not like that stuck-up Frieda who slithers out the trash chute every night, then waits around to see if anyone recognizes her so she can brush by them on the way to her hummer limo.

Weeell namo you are being a much better sport than I was! <3<3<3
I was ROBBED of seeing her first post-Tony show and now the moment is lost. Ridiculous. Shameful. Unconscience-able.
You'd better get used to Tina. Bertram told me at the stage door that Freida will be leaving in a few weeks for a workshop of "Rose is Rose: The Musical" (she's playing Peekaboo the Cat!) and that Tina will be taking the role full time. Well, he didn't exactly tell me, but I heard him say it to that old creeper who's always out there.

I'm just going to chose to ignore MisterMatt's ignorant comments because everybody knows that after she broke off her engagement to Vincent D'nofrio, Frieda dropped all apostrophe's from her name. MisterMatt prolly goes around correcting people who talk about "Glinda" in Wicked too, LOL.
Bluemoon, thank you for reminding me, not only did Tina sign, she had the signer for the deaf people sign as she signed. Also, I told you to see the show before the Tony's.
Is she goona kep the frosted bangs when she go's full time in the roll, or do you think their gonna give her another wig?
No, she'll probably loose them, or they might faze them out. Updated On: 6/11/09 at 01:42 PM
