Haha, that's so true.
I mean... I don't remember her even winning any of those quickfire challenges. You'd think that someone with her expertise on desserts would've managed to pull off something mildly palatable (I think that's a word, but I'm too lazy to look it up).

She did't even winthe ice cream challenge.
And that's why I'm not disappointed that she's gone.
It was only a matter of time.
Isn't sad when you can watch a show like that and there's always that person (or two) you look at and go 'Yep, their time is numbered'? (of course, sometimes it's very obvious who's going to get auf'd)

I'm counting the days for Miss Padma. Her delivery gets flatter each week and the judges just stare in amazement with open jaws when she talks for too long. I say make Gail the host. Hell, I'd take Caroline Rhea.

I just re-watched the Camp Glucose episode, where Team Black (the winners, Betty, Frank, Wolverine) were at the judges table. One judge asked whose idea was it to make the pizza. I just noticed that both Betty and Frank were raising their hands. When Betty saw Frank raise his hand, she sort of scratched her nose and put it down. LOL.
I think it was Betty who actually suggested making the pizza. They were in the grocery store and she said something about not being a parent, but kids love pizza.
Please don't hate me....but I can't see why everyone is hating Marcel so much. Betty just wants him out & Frank flipped out on him (after Sam blew up the situation).
So, who else wasn't impressed with the Thanksgiving meal?
Their T-Day meal was bad. However, I was really upset with the way that all went down. Why the hell did they grant five people immunity? Please!!!!
That was an intense episode totally. Betty is a total turn-coat and it is clear that she gets ugly and nasty when backed into a corner. I mean, she was blaming Marcel and he only tried to help her. It was so not his fault her dessert sucked ass! Also, how quickly she turned on Carlos and screamed at him, "you're going!!" Betty really scared me last night. She is the worst sort of person. The kind that acts all lovey-dovey and then stabs you. She is evil and I am over her.
I feel bad for Marcel and think people are scapegoating him. Just becuase Frank is a slob who leaves his toiletries in the kitchen and Marcel put them on the floor does not give him the right to threaten.
I love Elia after last night. She is a nice girl and funny. for so many weeks I thought she was uptight and rigid. I am glad to see her colors emerge.

I can't stand this show. On "Project Runway" you can see the gowns and make your own judgements; you can't taste the food on "Top Chef", so you have to depend on the word of the judges who have to be the bitchiest people of all time. And they openly try to set the contestants against each other. The show is only minimally about the food anyway; it's all about screaming and arguing and scapegoating. I know that's supposedly what makes "good reality television", but it gets really tiresome to me very fast.

Me too! I really liked her a few episodes ago, too, but my love has soured. My favorites are Ilan, Cliff and (although he's boring) Sam.
When Betty screamed that Carlos is going I actually thought she was losing her mind. For a second I thought the judges would get rid of Betty just for that outburst.

thirdrowcenter, I couldn't agree more. She sounded nuts! I think Betty has a screw or two loose.

Yeah, I'm starting to get very frustrated with Betty, she seemed so nice in the beginning, but now she's all overdramatic and angry.
I kind of feel bad for Marcel. He's cocky and not necessarily a nice guy, but it's not like he really HATES anybody.
This is why Ilan is definitely my favorite. He's pretty much the only one who isn't in the drama or has a problem with anyone, and everyone likes that kind of guy. It's ike Michael from Project Runway, and Steven from Season 1 of Top Chef.
The fact that no one has posted on TC makes me believe that others are feeling the same way I am. I think the show this season is pretty lame. It's just not exciting. It is missing something. I am almost ready to turn it off.
I thought the challenges get more and more assinine. I mean I understand making sure someone can rise to the occassion and improvise but asking people to shop for and make a dish without telling them what equipment will be available is just stupid and cruel to a trained cook.
It makes the judges comments sound so stupid when they are laying into someone who couldn't cook on a fire pit. I would like to see how Tom, Padma or Gail would hold up under such conditions. It was a little ridiculous. Could Gail mention her distaste for overcooked eggs ONCE more. We heard you the first time.
The contestants aren't very dynamic and I don't think TOP CHEF will make another season.
I saw the promos for TOP DESIGN and just shrugged. That is a lame idea that has been done 10 times over on all the style networks. Snooze-fest.
really don't like the chefs this season and the challenges are ridiculous. i hope elia wins but it is far from must see tv for me.
I hate to say it, Bettyboy, but I completely agree with you
(Not that I hate to agree with you, but I hate that it's true of the show).
I loved the first season and followed it religiously. I loved the concepts, the challenges, and most importantly, the contestants.
This season, everything just seems so half-assed. Bitchy contestants who pull stunts that would NOT fly in season 1. The judges have also developed even more of a God complex (further perpetuated by their blogs - has anyone read those? What self-righteous crap!)
I talked so many people into watching it this season, and they keep telling me they don't see what all the fuss is about based on the way I talked about it during the first season.
I hate that I'm not excited about the show anymore, I really do. That said, I'll still watch the rest of the season.
Oh, and Ted Allen next week? Deja vu anyone?
Jac, you hit the nail on the head. GOD COMPLEX!!! It's so ridiculous to be berating a trained chef when they couldn't make cuisine from a vending machine or on a fire pit. All my friends who I forced to watch Season 2 are asking me the same questions. I was in the 70% off bookstore the other day and Tom and Padma's books were side by side.
I LOVED the first season so much and this one is so limp. I will watch to the end, but I am trying to figure out why it is so unsatisfying.
I was glad to see Marcel win a challenge and I am really warmed up to Elia. I think Ilan, Sam, and Cliff all needed to be knocked down a few pegs so I am glad things transpired as they did yesterday.

"Oh, and Ted Allen next week? Deja vu anyone?"
I KNOW! He gets to meet his young Mini Me Ilan next week. I'm dying to see the two of them in the same room. Eeeee!
Pretty sad when THAT'S what I am most looking forward to. This show has definitely jumped the shark.
Will someone please bitch-slap Tom C. already!

Blueroses, he most certainly is, as I reported somewhere in this thread (or last seasons thread). I just don't get him. He has absolutely no appeal whatsoever. His head just seems to get bigger and bigger as the season progresses.
I hate how he blinks and rolls his eyes! He is the worst kind of mentor/teacher...one that acts like you dont know what you're doing.
I still hate Marcel. I still like Betty.
is anyone sick of Sam yet? He is always trying to stir controversy when he is in the bottom... talking about olive oil bottles, and this week talking about frozen waffles... he is a brat and needs to go (along with Betty)

Marcel scares me.
What was crazy is that they had to cook at the beach with only a firepit to cook on.
SPOILER: Frank is now off. Now Marcel isn't as intimidated.
