Believe it or not, there are still some crazy ass characters from the books that haven't yet been touched upon.
Also, even though I loved her pretty face and big accent, I was glad to see Claudine go. Queen Mab and all those ugly faeries ain't gonna be happy, though.
I just remembered Jessica and the Hoyt glamouring, and it makes me so sad. Jessica is clearly on her way off the rails.

Loved this week's episode! Best of the season so far. Pam was perfection! Loved the Tara/Sam reunion scene. Can't wait to see where the Arlene/baby storyline goes. (Her reactions to the baby kill me!) Love Eric with amnesia. Loved Maxine shopping on HSN. LOVED the barmaid's reaction to Jesus announcing he was a Brujo! And did anyone else find Pam giving Lafayette, Jesus and Tara the assignment to go and deliver Marnie to her within 24 hours just a little bit WIZARD OF OZish?
TB continues to be one of the most inventive, entertaining, well written and performed series currently on the air!

As for the Hotshot/werepanther stuff, the plot is similar in the books, actually, but Jason doesn't get turned (by all that biting, that was original source material, btw) til later, if I recall correctly. I'm sad that they're pulling that so soon on the show. In the books it was at least sort of campy, but the show is making them all non-sympathetic in that town. Even Crystal's father in the book was a sweet ol' werepanther man, and they made him a vengeful dickhead who got his head shot off, last season. She seemed, last season, like the best thing that could have ever happened to Jason, and now she's suddenly a wack-job. (I blame Felton and the V, though. I wonder if they'll have a scene in the 2nd half of the season where she comes to, and realizes all her craziness and how she's hurting Jason.)
Alexander Skarsgard was adorable before, and I had heard teasers about his fantastic transformation into "amnesia Eric" this season (season 4, book 4). He's awesome. And hot. And I don't normally go for ripped blonde guys. Or blonde guys. Wait til what's coming next.
I'm about the "King Bill" storyline. I think they kinda needed some counterpoint to Eric, since Eric isn't able to be the powerful asshole this season. It also shows that Bill, while we loved their S. 1. romance, isn't the saint he first appeared to be. He lies easily, you notice, and...the "true death" sentence for that vamp who got videotaped? A bit extreme, even for him. He's got so many axes to grind and is always trying to prove himself, but I guess found a way to succeed politically, to maintain some sense of self-worth, these days.
I don't want to post a spoiler, but it shouldn't really be, if your memories are good: Did anyone find it gross that Bill and Portia hooked up? It was hinted in S. 1. I'm surprised they pulled that, as Bill should know who she is. Andy's gonna flip when he finds out that twist in the story... :)

Well, IF they go with that twist of the story. They may not. They have gone off-book quite a lot. I just assumed because of the hook up, it wouldn't happen now. In the books, the twist itself is why he sought Portia out in the first place. There's been no mention of that.

The interesting thing about having read some of the books is that you MAY think you know what's coming, but you don't have any idea. Jessica wasn't a character at all. Tara, Arlene and Lafayette were just bit parts. All that Maryann stuff was very small in the books. Some things are happening out of sequence. I think it's after this amnesia thing that I lost interest. The book I started and couldn't get into had something to do with a tiger. lol

I'm finding myself enjoying Tara for the first time since season one.
Don't know if it was here, but someone pointed out that all the worst stuff happens to Tara; even the baddest of the bad guys usually have some sort of crush on Sookie.
As Tara said, she'd only been back in Bon Temps for two hours and she was attacked by a vampire.
I'm interested to see what they do with her this season.

I love Tara. She was harder to love in seasons two and three, but so far this season it's been great to see her so self-assured.
I've read up to the sixth or seventh book, I think, and at this point the show has almost completely gone down its own path.
