WBC to Protest Gay Marriage on June 16th in SF

We all knew it was going to happen. I don't usually check their site, in fact I don't at all, but someone posted the link on facebook:

While also snooping around on the website, I found out that they were protesting a Southern Baptist Convention, which seems redundant and odd to me, but I'm sure they've come up with some twisted reason for doing so.

Tonight I'm going to call them and play Patti's Rose's Turn from youtube! LUPWN!

She's his daughter. He's insane too but she's just so absolutely demented it's frightening. I think he's more obviously driven by self-loathing, and I truly believe he's a repressed homosexual. Why else have tons of kids if not to prove to yourself that you're straight?

I'm sure they're against musical theatre. After all, there are evil gays involved in it.

did u see the family on the tyra banks show some time back? The kids are seriously brainwashed, and honestly i feel sorry, if anything, for the little kids who follow them around holding all their messages of hate. God hates this...God hates that...yeah yeah

They regularly picket musicals and concerts, because such events are bound to be crawling with gay people--there's a twisted logic to it, I guess. Miserable creeps.

With his kids you push a button and get a pre-recorded response. That's it. They have no thoughts of their own. Just what's been "recorded".

When I was in college this gang showed up on my campus to picket on the steps of the library. We had given an honorary degree to Billie Jean King which mean we were "enabling" her to be homosexual. Because the campus had an arboretum on it the property was considered public so they could come and go as they wished.

Yes, religious groups like this deserve no respect at all. It is their opinion if they are against same sex marriages and other similar things, but it is just wrong to be rude about it.

Yeah, we had a similar group come on my campus last year protesting too. They caused chaos on the streets. I'm surprised nobody got injured or there wasn't a huge riot. I think this group was called Repent America. They were dumb too because you could see on their signs that they spelled homosexuals wrong at first, having it say homeosexuals. And thieves was spelled wrong too, but not fixed. I just don't remember how it was spelled at the top of my head.

I watched a documentary on this group via Netflix Watch Now. I already knew they were nutjobs, but wow. According to the doc, the only members left of this church are all within that family, either born into it or married into it. They're in their own little perverted world. A few of Phelps' grown children left the group, and they are heard via phone messages on the film. One daughter said that she believes he is addicted to anger and can't function unless he is mad about something. It was awful watching the children participate in the protests. If there's a God (and I believe there is), those adults will answer some day, for spreading hatred in the first place, and also for teaching young children to spread hatred.

Louis Theroux did a documentary on this family called "the most hated family in america"(if you can find it, watch it it was amazing)They had me lost for words, i just could not believe people could actually picket a soilders funeral. Or anyones for that matter.

Well, if God is real, let's hope they see His fury when they die..

I watched that. It's just impossible to speak to Shirley Phelps-Roper. I understand that she's so used to people attacking her that she's always on the defensive, but she never actually LISTENS to what people say to her. She just starts spewing things that make no sense at them.

Picketing soldiers' (and Reagan's) funerals made them the most hated family in America.

Most of the right-wing blowhards didn't care a fig about them when they were just picketing the funerals of the fags and the celebrities. When they were picketing Reagan's funeral, Sean Hannity didn't even know who they were and called them a bunch of "liberal protesters."

Sure, Jerry Falwell spoke out against them after Matthew Shepherd, but that was part of his PR damage control when he pretended for a bit that he wanted to tone down the rhetoric. As we saw after Sept. 11, he never really did.

That being said, these people don't make me mad. They're clowns. The only thing truly bad about them is they give the homophobes something extreme to condemn to give some sort of air of validity to the "love the sinner, hate the sin" nonsense.

Fabrizio, when they announced that they would be protesting the memorial for the shooting victims at Northern Illinois University, I called for about an hour playing "If you were gay." They woman answering the phone was getting pissed! haha.
