I was talking about Bening and Clayburgh.
And Michael Sheen was wonderful. Lots of people care about him. I would haven nominated him over Arkin or Wahlberg.

I found his performance in Blood Diamond to be bland and nothing great. The only reason I would care is if he was nominated for Blood Diamond, because I would be mad.
Well I understand the point, but I suppose I just despise the very "theme-y", "preach-y" vibe to the song.
It has the same feel to it as the title song from THE COLOR PURPLE - but, if you ask me - THE COLOR PURPLE is written better.

I have to say that most of the lyrics in Dreamgirls aren't really that good, but it fits to Curtis's idea of having modern sounds that catch your ear.
Just saw the noms this morning and there were some surprises. I was very moved to see Jackie Earle Hayley nominated...the kid from THE BAD NEWS BEARS and BREAKING AWAY got an Oscar nomination???? It pays to hang in there, even for decades.
The most bizzare nomination: Leonardo DiCaprio for BLOOD DIAMOND. I could barely stand his accent in the trailers and he was so good in THE DEPARTED. Strange, strange, strange.
By the way, the DREAMGIRLS "snub", it's not racism its HOMOPHOBIA!!!! Those nasty faggies are taking over Hollywood we can't let them win a best picture!!!!
I thougth you said there wouldn't be 1 surprise........
"Little Miss Sunshine" is a GREAT movie, but "Best Picture" quality . . . nah!
i sincerely thought that Borat was much better than Little Miss Sunshine... maybe i didn't get it, but I really didn't think Little Miss Sunshine was all that special
i really believe that Dreamgirls did not deserve a nomination... the editing was terrible and the movie should have been a half an hour shorter... Listen had no place in that movie, and it kept dragging on and on and on... a lot of material needed to be cut for that movie to work, the performances of Murphy, Rose and Hudson were great, but the movie itself just didn't work for me...
