Weiner: Mayor or not?

I am not eligible to vote for NYC mayor since I live in New Jersey. Have been enjoamused by the Anthony Weiner scandal. I am curious what the opinion is, from those who can vote in NYC, of Anthony Weiner.

Should Anthony Weiner still be eligible to run for mayor since his penis pictures are out there?

Should sexting his penis pictures disqualify him for public office?

Is he just another 'guy' so why not run for mayor or any public office?

This guy is not qualified to pick up after elephants in the circus

Say that he has money in his campaign warchest from congress to feed his ego. In the process, his wife is being humiliated.

Weiner: Mayor or not?

He should not be in the running for mayor.

Originally he lied and said his account was hacked. Then he lied and said it was the last time. At least three women have said he sexted with them.

If he lies this many times about this incident, what else has he/will he lie about?

NYC will be laughing stock if he is elected. though the alternatives arent very good either. if only Ray Kelly or Guiliani would run.

Weiner: Mayor or not?

Is she being humiliated or humiliating herself by revealing her low self esteem for remaining with such a moron of a husband?

She could possibly show more strength if she were to walk out on him - yes I know that it gets more complicated because of the age of their son.

It's a nice piece to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

I don't know. I'd rather a mayor who is getting his Vitamin P than one who isn't.

Weiner: Mayor or not?

I said it two years ago and I'll say it again. He needs to go away and never come back. His political career is over. This story, like the one two years ago, will NEVER GO AWAY as long as he is still in the race.He could teach, become a lobbyist, practice law, almost anything. Just get out of politics. He's a joke and no one will stop talking about him until he goes away.

Jordan, you gotta admit, the thought of sending a picture of that to someone and think theyre gonna swoon is just mind boggling...

Huma should take lessons from Alicia Florrick.

I wouldn't say he should be officially disqualified, as some may suggest. I just hope (and fingers crossed that it's not in vain) that the voters see that he has terrible judgment and do the right thing and just end his political career by not voting for him.

As someone who will text his penis to anyone who asks, I'm offended that he lied in the first place. Ugh...stupid lie about something completely inconsequential.

Weiner: Mayor or not?

Personally, I don't think the fact that he had a sex scandal disqualifies him- lord knows there are plenty of politicians that have had them and survived- but I don't think he's handling the whole thing very well.

Besides, on a candidate basis, I think there are better people for the job.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Weiner: Mayor or not?

I think the fact he went out and did the same damn thing again and multiple times is what should disqualify him.

He's not handling it well. Yesterday he said "It's not about me, it's not about Huma, it's about the voters."

Well yes, it is about you. The voters want to know if they can trust you to run the city and not be sexting when the pressure of the job is taking its toll.

Weiner: Mayor or not?

On a politics-level, always has been a complete show-horse and not a workhouse. Bill DeBlasio has a much better claim to make about being the progressive of the primary. If you found yourself charmed by the vintage image of Weiner leading a rhetorical spat against Republicans on the House floor about progressive causes, be aware that most of those causes he championed were drawn up and negotiated by other elected officials who did not give a flip about the spotlight the way he did.

"He could teach, become a lobbyist, practice law, almost anything. Just get out of politics. He's a joke and no one will stop talking about him until he goes away."

He's not a lawyer, he only got a Bachelors degree and has basically been in politics since graduation- coming up as one of Schumer's staff (Who I am pretty sure cannot be happy about any of this whatsoever), the city council, and then the House. I think there was a good reason for people to speculate that Weiner being Mayor (although many say he had to be told to stay out of the last race in 2009) was more about the fact he missed running and being on the campaign than him really wanting the job of Mayor. What else in his life has he known otherwise. He could become a lobbyist but there was little on his record that suggest he totally fit the lobbyist mold.

Oh, I'd love to be an Anthony David Weiner
That is what I'd truly like to be.
'Cause if I were an Anthony David Weiner
Everyone would be in love with me.

But on the other hand...

Oh, I'm glad I'm not an Anthony David Weiner
That is what I'd never want to be.
Cause if I were an Anthony David Weiner
There would soon be nothing left of me!

Weiner: Mayor or not?

My favorite candidate is Bill DeBlasio.

For a while it seemed that Weiner and Quinn were the two front runners (this may have changed this week, time will tell, as will whether Weiner actually stays the course).

Leaving aside the likely prospect of a run off (or, put differently if there weren't - or rather hadn't - been a likely possiblity of a second chance to decide between Weiner and Quinn even if I voted for someone else in the first primary), if I had a strong preference for Weiner over Quinn (God that sounds sexual) or the other way around, I'd consider voting for one of them over the other to make sure the clear best of the two got the nomination. But, with or without Weiner's sexting, I don't have a strong preference for one over the other.

In other words, I don't really care all that much that the guy sexts in his marriage, or that, when caught, he'd do what a great many people would do, lie about it, or that he continued to do it after he was caught. If I were convinced that he were the best candidate, I would still support him. But I don't think he's the best candidate.

Even Alec Baldwin kicked him to the curb.
