I used to lip-synch "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" for my neighbor friends.....
Who knew, years later, it would be a job choice?
playing with my sister with her Barbie dolls. And when she wasn't home, Ken and my GI Joe had QUITE the time....
chasing around a friend of my brothers whenever he had his shirt off with my camera, I was 7 years old. He was 15
Wo Oh Oh-Oh-Oh, Wo Oh Oh-Oh, Wo Oh Oh-Oh-Oh,
THE RIGHT STUFF.
"I tried to make a dress once out of a trashbag when I was about 6 or 7"
If for whatever reason you are a fan of BKLYN, now you know why!
I think I liked Joan Collins way too much when I watched her on Dynasty, it's odd to see a 6yo who is in love with a woman who is about 46 ys older than he is. Also I remember I got one of my 1st hard-ons watching a guy on TV. Ha!
when i went to camp jewel in 5th grade, there was an island with a bridge called chapel hill, with a real wedding chapel on it and my friend julie and i got "married" there
i'm loving the bumpage of old threads btw :)
oh, so many signs, I don't even know where to begin...
I use to play with Barbies.
I use to wear my mom's nightgowns and dance in them.
I had a crush on my middle school gym teacher.
[I just recently felt comfortable in such a way to accept the fact that I am Gay/Bi, thats when I realized pretty much all the things I did as a child were very gay things. Sorry, it's a bit hard to talk about because I'm not official "out" except to one person: my friend Amanda.]
I was obsessed with Cher at age 8.
Oh wait... I'm a girl :)
My gay best friend said that on his first date with a girl, he watched Funny Girl. What a fantastic sign...
Seems yours was a family affair, Foster. Did you have a coming out party, too?
in 4th grade, we had to make a collage of pictures of things we liked...mine had a lot of pictures of Cher and Madonna...I think this was around 1991/1992.
let's see :
- lusting after the male power rangers
- wanting to sing Cher and Reba songs in school talent shows (mom said no, of course)
- having this idea in my head that i was a girl before i was a boy (past life of course, didn't know what it was though)
wow. i was the most UNgay little boy ever. i loved video games. and girls.
how the hell did i turn out gay?
The very first inclination would have to be this one time, in the mid-60's, we went out to my uncle's house for dinner and so that my sister could try on some dresses that my cousins had outgrown. I was no more than four or so. My sister was putting on quite the fashion show trying them on and I wanted to get in on the fun. I remember trying on one dress for my family.
Later, in the '70's, I remember looking at a movie magazine of my sister's had a pictorial history of women's swimsuits in the movies on one page and a picture of Charlton Heston wearing a jockstrap on the opposite page.
I was much more fascinated by Charlton Heston's ass than I was with Raquel Welch's breasts.

Here's one of the first signs I WASN'T gay:
I was 11, and I was watching the annual TV airing of THE WIZARD OF OZ (in the days before VCRs), and I suddenly realized, "Man, this movie is REALLY GAY! That Tinman is,like, wearing lipstick! And that Lion - with the bows in his hair! And what's up with that Gatepeeper at the Emerald City?"
Yes, Jon, but admit it You loved the Scarecrow most of all.
I just always knew. I used to look at ads of men modeling suits and whatnot and was aroused before I even understood what being aroused was. I also intuitively understood that it was not going to make my parents happy and that it was something I should hide.
It's funny, b/c I had abslotely no guilt about it, in fact I enjoyed being gay. Anyway, my folks were totaly fine with it, and by HS I was out and had a bf.
I started to realize it when I loved New Kids on the Block, looked at my male classmates rears instead of the females, loved showtunes and had many girls as friends. Plus the biggest realization should of been when I complained to my dad that my girlfriend at the time took her shirt off and exposed her bra, it did nothing for me at the time!! Bells and Whistles should of gone off in my head, but hey, you're young and then you learn. And now all is happy in my life.
Hahaha what a great topic. Mine pretty much mirrors alot of everyone else's.
I played dressup ALOT with my sister. most of my best freinds were female. i thoguth it was fun to talk like a girl and do the limp wrist thing. I found the male body to be very enthralling, and had tiiiiiny lingereing crushes on my male friends my whole life. The only thing i liked about baseball was the pants, and i only used the shaving kit my dad got me like twice. I loved showtunes since i was born, and always thought the guy's songs were boring.
But, I was a super active kid who loved to run around and play tackle soccer in the mud... I loved building things with my dad in the garage (now I build scenery). I like to go out with my straight guy friends and go camping.
Oh... and no dresses for me. ever.
fishes,
Graham!
These were the first signs that I was gay...
So, you've always had a yen for construction workers?
lol SM2, that's what I thought too.

Also my huge crush on Ricky Schroder. I remember cutting a picture of him out of teen beat or something...I cut his face out just so I could bring the hair portion to where I got my hair cut. I wanted to have the same haircut as Ricky Schroder but didn't want anyone to know who's hair it was. When my mom told the barber, I cried all the way home. EARLY drama queen.
