I agree with your assessment of that thread.
To your list I'll add Linda Darnell, Jennifer Jones, Elizabeth Taylor, Lana Turner, and Gina Lollobrigida.
The last-named was immortalized in an immortal lyric in the Broadway musical, Ankles Aweigh:
"And the Gina Lollobrigidas are in bloom." (Italy)

If I had to pick one lady it would be Gene Tierney - I recently saw Leave Her to Heaven on the big screen and my breath was taken away by her first entrance:
