clinton vs. sanders your vote?

I would feel much more comfortable if Hillary had the nomination in the bag already and named a running mate. This could be the first general election in quite some time in which the choice of running mate on both sides could sway voters, especially Indies. I couldn't imagine any of Trump's current or recent rivals willing to run with him but there are a couple of GOP Governors other than Kasich in their 2nd term who would sing for their supper. There are also a few former GOP Governors with national name recognition still who would gladly suit up. Trump has already toned down a bit. As long as he gets the nomination, he'll play ball with the party bosses. He stands no chance as a lone wolf.

From last night's exit polls, Clinton got 75% of the black vote, 67% of minorities overall, and 60% of women.

The next time we decide to have a revolution, maybe we should invite some women and some minorities.

If Trump gets to 1237 before the convention, he gets to choose his running mate.  If the convention is contested, the nominee may have their VP chosen for them.  If he gets to choose, don't be surprised to see Christie on the ticket.  For HRC, the frontrunners appear to be Perez and Castro.  Both have presented themselves well on the cable news shows, and their lack of elected office is a non-issue against Trump.

When I vote for Hillary in November, it will have absolutely nothing to do with soul-crushingly cynical, relentlessly condescending sports-team lectures I've gotten from the older generation of Democratics I know.

Last night on MSNBC, Brian Williams very pointedly discussed "staying too late at the fair" with regards to Bernie and speculated when he may call it quits.  If the current polls are anywhere near accurate, Hillary is going to have another big night next Tuesday, and it'll probably be time for Bernie to concede.  I expect he'll do so then, or maybe the following morning.

I'd be surprised if he conceded before the final primary, regardless of how he has been performing until that point. I don't think he'll be close, though, and will only remain in to further hammer his point (unlike Hillary remaining in the race in 2008, when she had an extremely legitimate argument for doing so).

I know there's a lot of breast-beating about a Trump presidency, but I can't think of a race--no matter who wins the nomination--where the Dems have a practical mandate.

Nearly three million voters were shut out of the process.  That's a lot of damned disenfranchised people and a horrible f**king shame that everyone should be concerned about.  That Hillary won the primary in New York is not suspicious, that she won it by triple-digit percentages, to me, is.

Hillary, not surprisingly, won big with women.  So did Trump, which is just....Jesus, New York.  And can we all take a moment to have a neat, inconspicuous vomit over the Empire State Building turning red in honor of Trump?

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. The Empire State Building was turned red when the GOP was called for Trump, then it was turned blue when the Dem was called for Hillary.

And no one was disenfranchised during this or any other primary.  That can only happen in November.  Political parties get to choose their nominees based on whatever rules they choose.

The NY GOP is...unique.  I mean, they nominated Carl Palladino for governor.  I believe there are only around 2.5 million registered Republicans in NY, a state with population around 20 million.

I'm not sure if I totally agree with the idea that anyone was really disenfranchised due to the rules of the Democratic Party. Yes, there are absolute concerns about people being suddenly unregistered, and those should absolutely be investigated (and fortunately de Blasio has already announced his intention to do so), but it's not as if the party instituted these rules just to help Clinton win. They were in place before her candidacy, and parties are legally allowed to decide who gets to vote in their primaries. That doesn't mean the system can't be critiqued, but to me it isn't the same as someone being turned away during a general election.

I like Bernie Sanders a lot- I think he's done a lot to move the party to the left, he's kept Clinton on her toes in a mostly productive way, and he seems like a generally decent human being who I'd be happy to vote for in the general. But at a certain point, I lose sympathy for him since no one was forcing him to run as a Democrat. If you want to join a party and use their resources to help your campaign, then don't be mad when you have to follow their rules.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Unlike Hillary in 2008, Bernie's got a boatload of $$$ to last his campaign till the DC primary.  I sense that he's going to give his supporters a say in the remaining primaries and caucuses on principle alone.  That's admirable.  I just hope that he and his supporters don't subject the Hillary campaign to further friendly fire in the process.  Depending on whom Trump's paired with the electoral college calculus could auto-correct quickly.  Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and North Carolina in the general election are still weighing heavily on my mind.

An independent not being allowed to vote in a party primary isn't disenfranchisement. A party primary by its very intention and definition is not the place to "vote the candidate, not the party."

They are elections held by private groups to decide what candidate should represent that group in the general election. If you have not opted to declare affiliation with that group, why should you participate in that group's election?

I agree with Kad re party affiliation, but NY, eight months ago please.  I'm exasperated as to how all disenfranchised we've become, once again come November my vote will be more important than so many others.  I think you'll see a softened Dem debate from the rest of the way in, with Sanders garnering as many concessions he can get on the platform.  I don't think it will be brutal, and I also recommend like others before me, be nice to Bernie Bros. or my preferred Sandernista's.  In fairness to Clinton supporters whom I've been badgering to explain why she's getting the gay vote, sorry, that's not your only issue.  I realize that when I think of the social issues I'm most abhorred by, guns #1, I glossed over that.

You're effectively disenfranchised if you're a Democrat in Mississippia voting for president  Do you want a million other circumstances?

Clinton has a powerful new anti-gun ad up in Connecticut, featuring a daughter of one of the Sandy Hook victims.  It's embedded in the link below.

Hope she acts on guns.  What's she gonna do?  There's a technology that makes all triggers fingerprinted so only owner can use it.  Will she do anything?  I have as much faith in her getting things passed, realistic things like assault weapons ban, than I do Bernie.

But the electoral college is the most disenfranchising of all votes.  We've been so concerned about super delegates that it seems we've lost sight that every way of electing a president is undemocratic as long as the electoral college exists.  It's an embarrassment.
