Do I need to start pumping money into Hollywood again??? I feel so out of the loop. Of ALL the films nominated tonight (like, every category), I've only seen 4.

Kate Winslet makes me quiver (she owes SO MUCH to that sunken ship)! And "Slumdog" has got me so curious!

I'm loving the fact the Emma Thompson and Greg Wise (Sense and Sensibility) are there to witness Kate's big night..... And cheer for her!

"I'm so sorry Anne, Meryl, Kristen...what was that other person's name? OH! Angelina Jolie!!!"

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

Greek, I believe it is - she said when she won the first award this evening that she 'never wins anything'.

Adored her in "Sense and Sensibility".

Wow. Didn't see this coming. Happy for Rourke, though.

Mickey Rourke looks like a rockstar.

dramarama - LOL - I thought that was good karmic 'payback' for the interview diss they gave on the red carpet.

In fact, it's priceless

(sorry, I'm just really over the whole Brangelina thing!)

It's no use crying over spilled... well you know... but MILK was so so so sorely over-looked by the Hollywood Foreign Press. Old white homophobes still at the helm (even if the pretty mixed people win the trophies).

eh, I had other picks in the category.

Kind of over the Mickey Rourke kind of behavior.

ETA: I agree with Greek... YUCK!

I have crushes on many rockstars, and Mickey Rourke does not look like any of them. He looks disgusting. Ick.

KFTC!!!!!

Mickey Rourke ???? YUCK, I despise this washed out deformed has-been ! Even if he was good in this film, it was probably accidental, he is an awful actor !

I would hardly call the Hollywood Foreign Press "old white homophobes", EugLoven.

If the Oscars are in sync and award Slumdog, Boyle and Rourke, the ratings are gonna be abysmal again !

Sigh, I loved Slumdog, but would have given something to Frost/Nixon.

Greek, that's a big concern for ABC and the Oscars this year...

New York Magazine did a great review/write-up of SLUMDOG a few weeks ago that called this evening perfectly. A sneaky low(ish) budget indie-film stealing the way to the front. Entertaining story and should definitely invigorate some ticket sales. Putting a face of a foreign country onto the US screens and a not-so-absurd tale with a real heart. Congrats to them!

So far not one AMERICAN won in any big motion picture category, right ? I'm not sure about Rourke's nationality, but honestly, who cares ?

I was absolutely blown away by SLUMDOG. So, so, so, so, so, so happy it won all the awards it did!!! Deserved every one of them.
