BroadwayWorld.com, is pleased to present the results of its 4th annual "Theater Fans' Choice Awards," a revelatory look at what the Broadway theatergoer thinks of this year's season, and a preview of the 60th Annual Tony Awards, given out this Sunday. More than 250,000 votes were cast in 24 categories by more than 10,000 voters.
The 4th Annual BroadwayWorld.com Theater Fans' Choice Awards is the biggest and most popular online, open (viewable as the votes are tallying), Broadway polling event of its kind. We want to give Broadway audiences, theater professionals, fans and enthusiasts the opportunity to weigh-in on what they (you!) think is the best of the 2005-2006 theater season.

Hm...there are some interesting winners! (The Odd Couple as best revival of a play?!?) I have a feeling the Tony voters won't agree with some of these.
Is there a way to see the winners without having to click on each link?
Sweeney Todd and The Drowsy Chaperone got a lot of arwards!!!!

Mister Wilson came in third for Best Actor in a Play. That's a good showing in light of what the critics said.
Mister Wilson, we did our best to show you the love! :o)

Overall, I agree with most of the winners (with the exception of "Odd Couple" for revival, and "Drowsy" for Score). Definitely more accurate than the Broadway.com fan awards (Julia Roberts? WTF!?)
and Amanda Peet came in 4th place!
Cindy Lauper over Beth Leavel...(as only the Drowsy Chaperone would say) "Oh Please"
Some of the results are a bit odd...Play Revival, Featured Actress in a Musical, Featured Actor in a Play, and the 15.96% people that voted for Blonde in the Thunderbird...again, "Oh Please!"
I am happy for Tyne Daly...I'd love it if the Tony's will follow suit on that one. Bravo to SWEENY & DROWSY on all their deserved wins.
WEDDING SINGER DIDNT WIN ANYTHING mylordness
Do you think most people voted without even seeing any of these shows? Looks that way to me.
just like the Golden Globes!
meh, I liked the broadway.com awards results better
I disagree...I think these results overall are more accurate and represent our general opinions better than that of the Broadway.com awards. (CP, best musical?)
Broadway.com seemed more on target except for Julia Roberts.
That was really odd.
Cyndi Lauper as Best Featured Actress? I'm sorry, I have to disagree.
The replacement categories are right though! Yea Jonathan and Eden!
I don't get the whole Eden thing...Megan Hilty should have blown Eden and Shoshana out of the water!
And now after reading the Broadway.com results, I have to say that these are way more accurate.
Both sets of results were totally whacked out! But broadway.com's were better. Casey Nicholaw for best choreography?? Um, no. Since when was the choreography in Drowsy (the one number) considered the best? Either Marshall or Ashford.
Brad Garrett got a lot of votes considering the length of time he stayed with that role.
I have seen LaChanze and Lupone. Seeing Sutton on Friday night. So far, LaChanze is my favorite. Lupone was wonderful though.

I agree with most of the results, but I can't understand how some people even recieved votes. For example, John Arbo (Fogg) from Sweeney has .42%, and he's not even in the bottom ten. Nothing against John, he plays the bass the entire time and does perfectly fine with the few lines he has. He's also making a very hard transition from pit musician to actor, but how could someone vote for someone with such a small part? Even if the only show you like (or have seen) on Broadway is Sweeney, wouldn't you vote for Mano, Alex, Mark, or Ben?

Drowsy's win as best new musical proves that it is most popular with the sort of broadway afficianados who come onto this site. As for what's the most popular new musical with the average member of the public, I'd have thought that was Jersey Boys. Just compare the box office figures including the average seat price achieved.
