I have not heard, and just checked, from TonyAwards.com if the Creative Arts Awards (and which awards will be presented at that time) will be part of the telecast this year or will continue to stream online prior to the telecast on TonyAwards.com.
Has anyone heard anything on this yet? Thanks.

From TonyAwards.com
The Red Carpet will be followed by full coverage of the Tony Awards ceremony live from the Beacon Theatre, including the Creative Arts Awards presented by the InterContinental Hotel and Resorts. Those awards can otherwise be seen live only inside the Beacon Theatre, or viewed later here on TonyAwards.com.
So no more live webcast??
If I remember correctly, they didn't livestream them last year, either. Anyone else recall? It's a shame, I always really enjoyed being able to watch that part live.
What awards are being given out at the Creative Arts portion? Have they announced yet??

sounds like they will be giving out the Creative Tonys during the commercial breaks - didn't they do this last year as well?

They live-streamed them last year from around 7:15 - around 7:50. I really enjoyed seeing them over the past several years on the web.
I'll admit that I am a Tony nerd who likes seeing the set, lighting, costume, sound, orchestration, and choreography artists get their 3 minutes of attention as well.
It's was a live webcast last year where those of use lucky enough to be watching saw Rosemary Harris gave the greatest speech of all time for her lifetime achievement award, where she walked across the stage stopped for a moment looked out into the audience then walked off stage Later explaining, which was shown on the live telecast it was because they have always been told to make their speeches as quick as possible and that wa the quickest way they could think of...not making one, dispite the fact that the lifetime achievements usually get an extra minute or two since their speeches are preplanned.
That was Marian Seldes, not Rosemary Harris. And that happened in 2010 when those awards were given out during the pre-telecast portion.

Does this mean they won't play them in Times Square like they've done before? I know last year they said "you can only see these awards here or in the Beacon Theater" when I was watching the broadcast down there.
Also, my friend and I were laughing so hard over Marian Seldes' acceptance speech. Probably the best one I've ever "heard."

Haha, super fail. That was SO wrong. Nothing about that was right.
Still disgusting. They can find room for a Cruise Ship production of HAIRSPRAY, but not for the writers and designers, without whom there'd be no theater. Oh well. There's no business like show business.
Any word on who's hosting the Creative Arts presentation? I don't recall a host last year, but I could be wrong.
jv, that's my thoughts exactly. It really is sick.
^ Agreed, jv and Jordan Catalano.
I thought the cruise company sponsored the awards
Last year Laura Benanti and Katie Finneran hosted and were pretty excellent. I wish they weren't Times Square/Beacon Theatre only, that's a pretty big slap in the face to the people who do actually care about those awards.
I believe the Red Carpet will be telecast, but not the Creative Arts
I believe that, last year, the Special Tony Awards were presented before the telecast, with only one or two Creative Awards being presented, too. Then, during commercial breaks, the rest of the Creative Awards were presented.

Per TONY website-
" The 2012 Tony Awards telecast will be broadcast live on CBS. TonyAwards.com will offer multimedia coverage to complement your viewing experience, including highlights of the Creative Arts Awards, presented by InterContinental Hotels and Resorts."
So looks like designers, directors, choreographers, songwriters and librettists , will be among those not presented live.
Is best score and book still in the Creative Arts part of the show? AKA the most idiotic thing ever in the world

Score, Book, Direction and Choreography are always presented live to the best of my memory.

Last year Score, Choreography and Orchestrations were given out during the pre-telecast portion. The design awards were given out during commercials.
