I'm just here to echo the surprise about Kazee and Milioti being snubbed. That stinks. But Glen and Marketa were eligible for Music and Lyrics at the Drama Desks? Cool.
Robbie, I cant confirm, but it makes sense. Why else would Mary Testa not get a Best Actress nomination?

Very happy for Stephanie J. Block, Patrick Page, and Bernadette Peters. :)
The fact that the "Books" for LEAP OF FAITH and DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY were nominated over Fierstein's work for NEWSIES is a joke. Not saying that NEWSIES book is groundbreaking and brilliant, but it's a coherent piece of writing, whereas I couldn't follow LEAP... or DEATH... .
And may I just say to all of you jumping on the DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY bandwagon, remember how the Drama Desks honor random, nice shows (sometimes from Off-Broadway) and given them no awards to take home?
I guess when one wins an award it's nice. Other than that...

"Wow, Elena Roger is really not going to get a Tony nomination. How do you play Eva Peron and not get nominated? What an embarrassment."
I think there have been some rare occasions when someone was not nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award or Drama Desk Award, but still got a Tony nomination. Tammy Blanchard was never nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award or Drama Desk Award for playing Hedy LaRue in 'HTSIBWRT', but she still get a Tony nomination. And the same thing happened when she played Louise in 'Gypsy'.

OK so I don't think anyone has ever missed with the triple (3) set of nominations so....
Actresses with all 3 (Outer Critics, Drama League, Drama Desk = Tony Nomination
*Kelli O'Hara in Nice Work If You Can Get It (Yay Kelli! Her 3rd Lead Actress nom
*Audra McDonald in Porgy and Bess (she will win her 1st Lead Actress in a Musical Tony!
*Jan Maxwell in Follies (her 5th, 1st in Lead Actress/Musical
*Tracie Bennett in End of the Rainbow (her 1st, will probably win Best Actress in a Play ala Piaf right?
*Linda Lavin in The Lyons (her 4th Best Actress Tony Nom
*Angela Lansbury in The Best Man (her 8th, 2nd in this category after Blithe Spirit.
*Judith Light in Other Desert Cities (could she win Best Featured in a Play? consecutive nominations after Lombardi!
Those with 2 noms so very possible Tony Nomination are....
*Cristin Miliotti for Once (1st~
*Judy Kaye for Nice Work (she may win for Featured - Musical right? Her 4th.
*Tyne Daly in Master Class ( would be 1st in Lead Actress/Play. 3rd overall.
*Da'Vine Joy Randolph for Ghost (1st~
*Bernadette Peters for Follies (if she's nominated she will tie with Chita Rivera for most nominations for Lead Actress in a Musical!
*Melissa Van Der Schyff for Bonnie and Clyde (1st~
*Jessie Mueller for On a Clear Day (1st~
Some brief thoughts after having just skimmed the list:
Thrilled for Follies; seems like they got all of the acting nominees from this show correct, except maybe the omission of White or Houdyshell.
Pleasantly surprised for Death Takes a Holiday; I didn't have the opportunity to see the show, so the only exposure I have is to the score, but the score is truly sensational.
Also very disappointed that Once was snubbed in the Lead Acting categories...
Very much hoping Judith Light wins - she's been nominated for every award thus far, and her performance is truly dynamite.
Very happy for Boykin; I agree that his performance was the most dynamic and engaging in Porgy and Bess.
Boykin is also a truly lovely man. Very un-Crown like. Pleased for him, as well.
Such a bizarre list. I am hoping the FOLLIES love repeats on Tuesday.
NaTasha Yvette Williams deserves a Tony nomination. I hope she's remembered.
This is such a strange list...I won't lie, I'm pretty annoyed that Bernadette got nominated for Follies and Elena was snubbed for Evita. Say what you want about her singing, but I thought she acted and danced the hell out of the role.
I'm thrilled that Phillip Boykin was recognized for Porgy and Bess though, he was really wonderful. I'm also really happy Molly Ranson got a nomination for Carrie.
I'm pretty annoyed that Bernadette got nominated for Follies and Elena was snubbed for Evita
Molly Ranson was also nominated instead of Roger. Do you have proof that they specifically chose Peters over Roger? When it comes to the Tonys, it will indeed be Roger and Peters fighting for that slot. But with the Drama Desk, they could have easily nominated Roger over Molly Ranson who did not receive great reviews.
I'm not saying Bernadette took Elena's slot...I just really did not like Bernadette's performance in Follies, and of those nominated in that category that I saw (I haven't seen Nice Work and I didn't see the Bessie Smith show), she is the only one who I felt turned in a sub-par performance and I don't believe she deserved a nomination.
Like I said, I'm actually thrilled for Ranson, who I thought was completely the best part of Carrie.
Whatever happened to Linda Emond? Am I the only one who is surprised by her snub? I thought she was one of the frontrunners for the win, but now I'm not even sure she'll get nominated. She didn't even get nominated for the Drama League Awards and they've nominated practically everyone under the sun including Emond for her work in The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures.
I'm guessing it's Judith Light's to lose, unless Angela Lansbury somehow pulls off an upset. Nah, Light is winning for sure.
It's all politics and it's all B.S.
So glad Jim Dale finally got some recognition. I thought he was the reason to see The Road to Mecca.
Love that Shaggs got a couple of noms. I loved that show.
And nothing for WIT?
Is there a reason for the lack of WIT nominations this season? Cynthia Nixon deserves some recognition for her heartbreaking performance. I know it wasn't a perfect production and it was an extremely limited run, but hey, it's worth nominations. And it was better than Gore Vidal's The Best Man.

Nothing for Bluebird? Fantastic revival. Thought Simon Russell Beale (as well as Russell Harvard) were biggest off-broadway snubs. Happy for Death, only wish Paice woulda got a nod. (but Best Book? really?)
Would love to see NaTasha Yvette Williams snag a Tony Nom.
Also it just opens this weekend so I'm guessing it wasn't eligible, but hope they don't forget about Midsummer Night's Dream on next year's noms (especially Steven Skybell)
I'm in shock about the omission of Outstanding Orchestrations. This is the group that has pioneered the category starting back in 1983. The lack of explanation worries me tremendously. It's not like there was terrible work this season; they could have easily picked at least five nominees. The work in the orchestration field seems leagues better than the musicals themselves.
I don't think anyone's mentioned it, but Andrew Garfield was left off. I was pretty shocked about that.
Seems like Joaquina Kalukango is the sole Godspell cast member to come out alive in this awards season so far. And she was recognized for the show she did when she jumped ship. I hope the Tonys are kinder to the show. Surely the show got better reviews than some shows nominated for Outstanding Musical here.
Yes, Death Takes a Holiday!! It better win best score (lyrics...not so much)
I'm sure Kevin Earley is one happy dude today! :)
Rebecca Luker got the shaft...she totally deserved a featured actress nod.
Boo! that there's no orchestration category. IMHO "Death..." and Follies definitely would have both been the top runners in that category, too.
And I agree with everyone who said the leads in Once got the shaft.
Follies would not have been eligible for Orchestrations. I believe they used the originals.
Follies used the originals (~95% of it was original) but there was no orchestration category in 1972. Was Tunick nominated for the 2001 revival? (It was a reduction of the original -- 14 as opposed to 28 -- and he did the reduction himself).
I'm waiting for Tunick to be given a Lifetime Achievement Tony.
Earley was mediocre at best and I forgot Cavanaugh was even in the show. I agree Luker was robbed.

but there was no orchestration category in 1972
There also wasn't an orchestrations category in 1949 for South Pacific, yet those original orchestrations were ineligible for the 2008 revival. Just because they weren't awarded then doesn't mean that they can be awarded now if no additional work was done.
My bad, thanks for the correction.
I've never listened to the Follies OCR so I didn't realize.
I'm just disappointed at how the orchestra is being excised out of broadway.
