Seeing as we're now in the new year, I was just curious to see if anyone had heard anything about prospective Tony hosts for this year?
I would personally love to see someone like Stephen Colbert do it, or even Laura Benanti would be a fun choice!
Colbert would make the most sense. My dream would be Susan Blackwell, but that would never happen. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get Lin to do it, but doubt he'd do it.
I could see James Corden coming back for the second year in a row. If not, I would love to see Stephen Colbert host.
Josh Groban?
Or what about Taran Kilam?

Meryl Streep. And give her plenty of time to roast the Donald.
Realistically, I expect Corden to return. If not him, then Colbert would be the next most likely choice.

I'd love to see two females host...ala Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. But for the Tonys maybe Laura Benanti and Kate McKinnon? Hmm.

I realize that now, I'm an idiot. Lol. Edited my post but guess not quick enough! ![]()
Interesting list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tony_Awards_ceremonies
The first 8 Tony Awards broadcasted on TV (starting in 1967) had female hosts.
Quick count shows 17 women; 13 men, and 13 duo/multiple hosts since 1967
Ok, my information may not be correct. I went to look at the ceremony held in 1977. This list shows Bea Arthur as the host, but the individual listing for that show has Tony Bennett.
May need to go to Playbill Vault and check.

I love all these suggestions! Corden was great and should repeat but I'd also love Benanti or Colbert. Really anyone but Fallon would be a-ok.
I don't think any NBC people would end up hosting the Tony awards, which is on CBS. So no to to Kate and jimmy. The difference with Taran is, he's not contracted with NBC anymore.
I always thought David Hyde Pierce would be a good host.

Doesn't Angela Lansbury hold the record for most number of times hosted?

I would love to see Kroll and Mulaney host.

OMG, brilliant! That would be AMAZING!
Also, Corden's hosting announcement came out Feb. 2 last year, so hopefully we might know for sure in the coming weeks...
Let's get some Bianca Del Rio just because I think she's hilarious.
Kroll and Mulaney for the win! They'd be insanely brilliant!

I feel like Corden would want to host again, but CBS would want to now boost Colbert.

Omg that would be so awesome!!
Corden is wishy-washy in this interview, but seems to be leaning toward not hosting this year.

Still hoping that fate somehow puts Kroll and Mulaney on that stage...!
