2019-2020 Touring Season

I'm actually curious to see how the Donna Summer Musical tour is staged since they had all those projection screens on Broadway as well as the 3 leads coming up from under the stage.

I believe it will be a SETA tour contract.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The 5th Ave in Seattle just announced that Once on this Island will be playing a two week engagement so I guess the tour is actually happening!

Ah thats exciting about OOTI!!! Never got the chance to see it in NY, I do wonder how they'll restage it for the tour. Hopefully actors still go into the audience and the level of immersion can be kept in some ways.

The projection screens won’t be a problem, but they will definitely have to restage the show without the elevators used on Broadway.

I really don’t want to sound like an idiot, but is there any chance that SpongeBob will still have a tour this coming fall?

It's not sounding likely for spongebob, but only a couple cities have announced so if you're looking to see it don't give up hope just yet!

2019-2020 Touring Season

A Christmas Story was great but saw it as a play. Seeing Charkoe, Fiddler and Anastasia for NOLA season gives me hope for cleveland 2019-2020.

Our season for 2018-19 is great thus far. We already announced Frozen in 2020.

2019-2020 Touring Season

Houston's Theatre Under the Stars is announcing at 2pm today. Expecting:

A Chorus Line - September 2019
Spring Awakening - October 2019
Elf the Musical - December 2019
Once on This Island - February 2020
Pure Country - April 2020
Newsies - May 2020

I believe CHORUS LINE, ELF and ONCE ON THIS ISLAND are tours, rest I believe are locally produced. Not 100% sure though. They will be streaming the announcement on their Facebook page.

Is this considered a complete season announcement, or I wonder if more shows will be added?

I've never managed to see Beautiful and have heard really good things about it, so I'm excited that it's coming to SF. (I'm assuming this is still the equity tour? SHN seems to only do equity productions).

Will likely pass on Rent - I love the show, but I've heard mixed things about the 20th anniversary tour.

I think this is outside the season.  Last year at this time they announced Les Mis and Phantom, which were not part of the 2018-2019 season.  Last year's announcement came around the first week of February.

"

Okay, that makes sense, as does the Les Mis/Phantom comparison (I can see how season subscribers wouldn't necessarily want to have two shows that have already been in the area).

I know we're already getting Mean Girls and The Band's Visit, but I'm curious what else.

Also, reading the rest of this thread makes me realize that shows stop in SF for a (comparatively) long time! I was surprised to see that even the equity shows only stop in some cities for a week.

2019-2020 Touring Season

Upcoming announcement schedule:

  • Miami: Fri, Jan 25
  • Las Vegas: Mon, Jan 28  (announcement ~7PM MDT)
  • San Jose: Tue, Jan 29
  • Minneapolis: Fri, Jan 31

According to their FB pages, Miami's season has 6 shows (including "Hamilton"2019-2020 Touring Season, and Minneapolis will be posting show clues each day on their FB page at 3 PM CST starting tomorrow (Thursday) until their reveal, which brings their total to 7-8 shows depending on how you interpret the message. San Jose and Vegas should provide some general insight as to what to we'll see out West. We have yet to get any locations for "SpongeBob," and "My Fair Lady" so perhaps they will start out there.

I also got a show survey from the Capitol Center in Concord, NH which had "The Color Purple" listed as an possible option for their 19/20 season ("Jersey Boys" and "Beautiful" were the other options). So, I'm guessing it's returning after pretty much being off for a season. (Survey for reference: https://app.surveymethods.com/EndUser.aspx?E3C7ABB3EAA5B4B5E4)

So Vancouver is getting

Rent, Waitress, Finding Neverland, Dear Evan Hansen, Wicked, and Hamilton in 2020/21.

Anyone know, which tour versions are most worth it? I figure Hansen and Waitress?

Is the Rent 20th any good? Non-Eq? Whos doing it?
