Re: BOOP! THE MUSICAL Reviews

Seeing some photos start to fly across socials for this! I miss this show so much and loved it on Broadway. In addition to the notes above, it does look like the grand staircase is completely cut, as are the light bulbs in the BOOP sign - it looks like it’s been reconstructed with flat LED backing and plastic paneling atop of it (admittedly a shame, leave it to David Rockwell to make this set even more barebones than it somehow was on Broadway….)

Wanted and Galileo - Changes for Broadway?

Sep 24, 2026 — 11:31:34 AM

Can’t speak to Galileo at all but I have heard Wanted has changed drastically - the entirely new title and set design are topline notes but I have no doubt there is also plenty of new book and musical content. It was a big show at Papermill and AFAIK it has had multiple major work sessions since that time. I’d wager it will feel like how it felt seeing Suffs on Broadway after the run at The Public. As for how good those changes are? We’ll see.

Concur this is one of the most well shot musical recordings we have gotten in years. It is sublime and then some. What a treat. Click Here To Toggle Spoiler ContentDid anyone else notice, anytime a character got a close-up during a larger group number, the mixing shifted so you could hear their voice come through more clearly ontop of the larger mix? As if the audience moved to sit right next to them halfway through the number. This entire re

It’s not a good look but I don’t think the shoe is dropping this fast.

Concur that Boroff is an excellent reporter and he hardly, if ever, misses. I have been reading him for a few years now.I also heard about these issues when they were going down internally last year but didn't realize the scope/severity of it.

An audition notice went out for the tour today that indicates some, or all, of the musicians will be onstage. On Stage Touring Musicians – The Who’s TommyWonder what this means for the rest of the staging or scenic elements. From what I recall, the Broadway production didn't have anyone onstage right? Feels like an interesting shift.

Financial viability aside, I’m assuming they’re hoping they can run it through the end of may to get SRC attendees in the door. The show is not getting booked unless that happens. How (or if) they have the money to do that? Who knows.

"Fix" a musical by giving it a new team

Charlie and The Chocolate factory, with a snappy new score by Tim Minchin. Set by Derek McLane who can do some DBH/Moulin Rogue type of crazy set work to help remedy what we got in 2017.Maybe Alex Timbers or Christopher Gatelli direct? Someone who knows all sorts of theatrical lushness and visual indulgence. And a new book by, I don’t know, someone. Anyone.Please.

Yeah. I am not sure it really tells us anything new except a hopeful “2027” and the name of the casting office and GM that have been signed on the show.
