I know it's exactly means anything, but I think Ferguson, Doyle and LuPone are winning their categories. Also, the race between Frost/Spivey and Clarke/Kalukango must be something!
You know, I also know it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but also noted how interesting it would be if those three won. And I agree the Actor and Actress in a Musical categories are indeed down to those match ups.

Mine too. It sucks,doesn't it?
We asked one of the nominators: A Case of Existence of God opened one day too late to be eligible.

I have not even seen Cyrano (out of town and it will be closed by my June trip), but the absence of Jamed McAvoy from this list seems the most egregious, based on the many reviews that I read. I have to ask 'what the hell were they thinking.' These kinds of omissions trivialize these awards. I don't think there have been more than 3 or 4 performances so acclaimed in the past decade (realize a hyperbolic statement like that is melodramatic, but those reviews were incredible. So much so that it goes on my mental list of performances that I was most frustrated to miss.
As with all awards: they’re “credible” when you agree with them, and they’re “not credible” when you don’t. I’m guilty of thinking this way sometimes too, but it’s important to remember that this is mostly a fallacy.
I saw all 6 of those actors (the 5 nominees, and James MacAvoy), and it’s a really strong lineup. Personally, I might've put MacAvoy in over Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ruben Santiago-Hudson, but that’s because I’m actually in the minority; I wasn’t as enamored with those 2 performances as most people.
And actually, even if those 2 actors got kicked out, I still would’ve put in Bill Camp, Laurence Fishburne, or even Jasai Chase Owens (Sanctuary City) over James MacAvoy,
But obviously the popular opinion is that Ferguson and Santiago-Hudson deserved recognition, and IMO Dirden, Ming-Trent, and Thompson all gave exquisite performances that deserved to be nominated over James MacAvoy. So in my mind it’s “credible,” but obviously it’s all just completely subjective.
And I’m not even saying this to bash MacAvoy – I thought was very good!
Out of the 150-ish nominations, I think there’s only about 20 or so that I didn’t see – and while there are some things I would’ve changed if I were the sole nominator, these nominations still seem perfectly reasonable to me, based on what struck me as the most deserving work of the season. But again, it’s all subjective.

His performance in Cyrano is really as amazing as the glowing reviews say. Possibly the best I have seen in any year.

A few surprises on this list:
How did Bunny Christie possibly lose Set Design of a Musical to Flying Over Sunset? Hopefully this doesn’t affect her Tony chances too much…
Veeeeeeery interesting that Paradise Square won Leading Actress (over Caroline, or Change) AND Choreography (over MJ).
Also, how did MJ take home Sound Design over SIX?
I also want to point out that every Lead Actor / Actress winner for this year’s ceremony is Black.
DIVERSITY!!!!!

imho, MJ has the best Sound Design I've heard in any show this year. I expect it will win on Sunday, too.
I suspect the press team also might have sent out this interview, which definitely tips the scales: https://www.theatermania.com/broadway/news/meet-the-tony-nominees-gareth-owen-sound-mj_93846.html

Interesting that Kimberly Akimbo won for Outstanding Musical but Six won Outstanding Music and Lyrics.
Very strange...
A lot of these winners & nominees are "very strange."
Also very strange that they are doing a ceremony at Sardis this year the Tuesday after the Tonys, instead of at Town Hall as in past years. They must have lost a major funding source.

I know The Tony Awards are unique with no overlap, but Clarke lost every other award, and she was in a limited run at the height of omicron, I’m going with Joaquina.
Spivey, Doyle and Company likely doing 3/3 this season feels right
The play awards give me a headscratch as most of the Tony nominees are eligible.
I think Rashad can take The Tony away from Kenita, but I believe the duo of “Drive” will likely prevail come Tony night.
Also, “MJ” is winning some tech stuffs, Dont know yet exactly what. Choreo and Sound?
