I'm a giant Kelly stan, and she has said multiple times she won't do Broadway because she can't act a lick. So I respect her for being self aware. But for a holiday thing, I think it would be fun and just lean into the camp of it all.

I think Kelly and Blake’s acting would make Carrie Underwood look like Meryl Streep."
I would hate this for the infinite amount of cross promotion they’d be doing with The Voice

Speaking of NBC cross promotion, I can imagine a halfway decent Bye Bye Birdie with Sofia Vergara as Rosie and Howie as Dad. Probably only halfway, but still.

ABC has technically gotten into it with their broadcast of The Little Mermaid in 2019 which was mainly a hybrid of the original animated film with live musical performances. They're going to do it again this December with Beauty & the Beast."
I totally forgot about that one. It was so lame and disappointing.
I sincerely doubt it - network television has gone through so much upheaval in the past few years audiences just aren't watching anymore (except for live sports). Its an expensive prospect and NBC just announced they're considering cutting back primetime hours. If they felt people would subscribe to Peacock to watch then maybe but I don't see it on NBC.
Jordan Catalano said: "It would be ABC, not NBC but with “Cinderella” in the spotlight again it would be fun to see a new one with Brandy as the Fairy Godmother."
I think that's a brilliant, wonderful idea. I always thought with the "tradition" of them re-making Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, this would be the perfect choice for one in the Live! series.
Dollypop said: "I wish they would revert to their original intent: to present classic musicals AS THEY WERE ORIGINALLY WRITTEN. Although THE SOUND OF MUSIC had its flaws, it was the original stage version of the show and I enjoyed it. When they started tinkering with the shows--like that God-awful PETER PAN, the material suffered and the ratings tanked."
I feel like that claim that the NBC Live adaptations are too loose is a little unfair - many of the modifications were necessary to update these stories for modern sensibilities. In fact, Annie Live! was MORE faithful to the original musical than the three film adaptations, restoring the songs "We'd Like To Thank You Herbert Hoover" and "A New Deal For Christmas", and emphasizing the political subtext that was downplayed (or eliminated entirely) in these previous adaptations. I feel like the main issue is that families are more reluctant to spend their Post-Thanksgiving Thursday evening watching a 2 1/2 hour show riddled with ad breaks...
