I think it's awesome how this show broke the million dollar mark on the last week, and played to packed houses!! I saw the non equity tour a few years back and it was terrible. It had pretty much none of the sparkle and magic of what was onstage at the Ford Center (I'm guessing that is). I absolutely love the show though.
I think whoever is playing Peggy Sawyer deserves the final bow. I've never seen it given to her.

A copy of the whole touring show is on youtube:

It's not a very good cast but whatever
Old thread, but I saw the touring show the other night and was surprised that the actress playing Peggy didn't get the final bow (and that "Julian" did get the final bow, alone), so I'm glad to see others agree with me. And then to find out that the Tonys put her in the featured category is mystifying.

Not that awesome to the investors though. I can't believe not single show has turned a profit in that theatre.
I saw the original...in my late teens...and then saw the revival in its first month or two. Both were wonderful...amazingly so. Wanted to see Shirley Jones at the end of the revival's run, but never did. I had my first martini with Shirley Jones and, my first taste of ostrich (burger or steak...at a trade show in Dallas). She is a really great person...from my several experiences with her; once professionally and once running into her at LAX baggage claim...and she remembered me from years earlier. She's a class act.

They actually did a very smart promotion with a lot of the hotels- 'see 42nd street on 42nd street'- they really played up the iconic street factor, with specifically designed hotel TV ads- I don't recall seeing any of that style promotion used in regular NYC ads (correct me if i'm wrong), but I was working in the travel biz at the time & it seemed to be effective, especially with the tourists who came into NYC post 9/11 & wanted 'comfort shows'

I thought Grinch was the one show there that turned a profit?

I loved that revival. I wish it was the version that was licensed to amateur groups (same with '92 Guys & Dolls). They made some very good improvements with songs and orchestrations.
Wow I forgot Shirley Jones went into this show near the end of its run! I remember seeing the show with Ebersole and later with Beth Leavel, both of whom I enjoyed. The replacement Peggy (Meredith Patterson, I think?) was better than Kate Levering. And Tom Wopat was a much better Julian than Michael Cumpsty ever was. Their replacement casting was spot on in that production.
And yes, I'm fairly certain Grinch turned a profit in that theater.
