I totally agree. Here's hoping it gets deleted completely. I hate having to revisit it, but the 'new' responses are too tempting to not read.

this was cruel...
the bennett estate could never get the rights to this. If you're going to lie and go along with the joke at least try to sound like you know what you're talking about. A Little Night Music was choreographed by Patricia Birch...

You confuse me. The ridiculous thing I said about Bennett was
a) not regarding Night Music
b) a joke
c) Bennett was not just a choreographer...
d) and most importantly, from what it seems, BELIEVED
Thanks for the correction, you certainly showed me up with your research and sharp wit :|
This thread is by far one of the funniest I've read on this board! I can't believe how gullible some of you on this board are.
^ I'd say some. Any follower of Sondheim knows there is no official video of the original Night Music and Merrily.
The ones easily fooled probably just weren't big Sondheim followers.

So does anyone know anything about the "Dream Cast" video of "Night Music" that Sondheim recorded at his 75th birthday party? Apparently, conversation turned to the perfect cast for a Night Music Movie and James Lapine mentioned that almost everyone on HIS list was present, so Sondheim set up a digital Video recorder and Lapine passed around the score. Bernadette played Deisree, Angela was Madame Armfelt, Mandy Patinkin was Carl-Magnus, Barret Foa played Fredrik, I think, I forget the rest. (I hear Stephanie Block did a great "Miller's Son.")
Anyway does anyone know if the video was ever released? A friend has the CD but he won't burn one for me. Apparently all the guests at the party were given a copy but were asked not to show it to anyone lese.
I have a DVD copy of that, as I expect most on here do as well.

Wait--I thought youw ere joking about this birthday "performance" too but I have to ask... are you? :P
God it's been a long week
E (to partly defend everyone who was curious about the collector's edition of the DVD--it did/does say on Best Buy's website that there is a 4 disc edition--people didn't make it up out of nowhere. Now I have to wonder if someone at Bes Buy's is a Sondheim fan and knew what a joke it would be to write that or if it was an honest mistake)
Oh, you MUST provide us the link from BestBuy since I can't locate it on their website. This is a hoot how crazy this is getting.
We're on day number 2, and it's yet to have any closure.
Woof!

It seems to have been cleared up now (though it still says collector's edition...) but it DID say yesterday 4 discs--I swear.

This is your punishment, BrodyFosse123!

"Dream Cast?" At this point Sondheimboy2, I don't even know if that is real or not. I feel like this thread has the makings of "opposite day." I don't know what to believe: is Brody touting his legendary videos again or has this never taken place? Right now I think it is a continuation of the joke, but unless I get confirmation
COME ON people! Wouldn't we have heard of that dream cast before?
Bernadette never played Dersiree. We know that.
Some of you are getting sucked into this fantasy world.
