Thanks, sondheimboy2...but in all fairness -- I don't bring home hot people from bars (never have, actually). I'm a bit more descriminating and above that realm of 'hooking-up'. So to speak...as it were.
If you find another scenario, I fully welcome it. I truly deserve it, but alas...one that is more realistically applicable to who I am.
Ball's in your court now, bud.
Oh damn. Does that mean it's not true that the forthcoming Merrily We Roll Along DVD isn't going to have a Memento-style chronological version, too?
I didn't hear about MERRILY comming out on DVD... When is this happening?

They had a filmed 1986 version that actually was filmed in reverse and played the whole action going back in time. It didn't even make a ripple in the theaters because of the stigma from years earlier of the failed stage production. Still a keeper in my opinion though!
Great chance too to see a younger Nathan Lane taking on Jason Alexander's part.

Question. I'm not following, but is this a joke or does video of this show actually exist?
I didn't realize they filmed a 1986 version, is that what they will be releasing on DVD? Because devonian.t mentions a forthcoming DVD. I am wondering when that will be released.

Word is they're waiting for September release I believe, but why I still don't know.
Is the DVD going to be the 1986 filmed version you mention w/ Nathan Lane? Or is it going to be a live recording like other sondheim movies (Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, etc)

The motion picture. Michael Bennett had his estate take claim to the taping of the broadway production, despite protests of Sondheim and the other creators. Who knows if we'll ever get the chance to see that one again now that they're stored in his vaults.

Ok all kidding aside (you guyzzzzz...) I pre ordered it from Amazon and am wondering if I should hold my order till we know what this is? Surely though it's just some sort of **** up--I mean Hen's Tooth NEVER do special editions regardless (and of this film now? WTF)
"Dub That Cast" - Surf additional audio streams that allow you replace many of the dubious vocals with trained singers "
Best you knwo my thoughts on the film and my defences but in all honesty the vocals (yep even Send in the Clowns IMHO--) are pretty impecable--the soundtrack makes a gorgeous listen albeit partly because of Tunick's retouched orchestrations

I may be in the city Saturday & will check Best Buy & report back
If it wasn't quite obvious -- this 4-disc Collector's Edition of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC was a joke. Originally, this first was a misinformation to the original poster -- BestBuy incorrectly informed him of this. The rest that followed, including my 'full specs' list was a joke. There is no 4-disc Collector's Edition of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. The only DVD that exists and will only exist in what was released earlier this week, in it's home-grown incarnation. Nothing more; nothing less.
As for the MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG DVD, that's an entirely different thread I have no knowledge about.
I tried looking for the special edition on Amazon and I couldn't even find it
It sounded good.
Oh well
Ok... i'm confused out of my mind because you said it is a joke, and then Eric said he pre-ordered it on amazon... What is going on??!!
A joke in all probability
"If it wasn't quite obvious -- this 4-disc Collector's Edition of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC was a joke."
lol. Shucks. Now I'm back to my "perpetual anticipation" mindset.
Eric was questioning all this because he pre-ordered it thru Amazon.com. Yes...he ordered the only one that exists -- the poorman's single-disc no-frills version that came out earlier this week.
Again (and again): THERE IS NO SPECIAL EDITION DVD of this film. Not now...not never.

In reality, no

OK I'm confused--Rent what show?
there is a handshot bootleg of Merrily's OBC that's pretty ubquitous among "collectors" and I believe, since it was the only filmed record, was even put in the Lincoln Center archives (but it's not all that well shot)--and I'm sure the York revival was filmed by them but nothing commercial no.
Now if only Image DVD could start back upt heri attempt to put on DVD the Japanese filming of the original 1976 Pacific Overtures
Gosh people! We are gullible tonight.
This thread is the most ****ed up thing I've ever read.
