ACL Reival Recording?

i got the OBC cd a few days ago, and love it, so yeah...now i cant wait to get the new one
does Natalie Cortez sing "Nothing" on the new recording?

Posted: 10/10/06 at 9:50amI like the new recording. I like Charlotte. But it's so bizarre the way she sings "through" as in "give me the chance to come through". Odd sound. Accent?

bwayondabrain, yes, Natalie sings "Nothing".
I like it, overall. I love how the montage is longer. I thought I wouldn't be a fan of the new take on "Sing!" from watching it on the opening night video, but it sounds better on the CD.
I hate the slow opening, though. And I definitely noticed that "through", morosco. It is odd. Maybe it's just her way of getting the right sound? Not sure.

Posted: 10/10/06 at 11:28amIt sounds that way (odder) in the show itself.

Posted: 10/10/06 at 11:31amThe cast sounds very VERY young at times on the recording. A little like listening to ANNIE.

I like the recording..just got it on Itunes this morning...sounds different...I dont really like "Dance Ten, Looks Three" it is supposed to be another show stopper and they was it was done in the revival and in the recording is just way to soft.
Also, if you notice all the ACL videos that are there like (clips from BWW, or Broadway.com or even Playbill.com) you notice that alot of the actors that in the line react to a lot of the solo stuff: Example...When Mike sings "I Can Do That" you can see Charlotee and Dedire smiling and responding. I remember doing the show and correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this supposed to be individual spotlights...and the rest of the cast is to be frozen as if what we are watching is happening in their own little world? Nonetheless, still a nice touch, makes it feel like this whole company is very supportive and for the show itself!

Not in Bennett's production.

"And" is available off the Rhapsody downloading service, but you have to buy the full album to get that 1 track.
In addition, if you buy the CD off itunes, you don't get "And," but you do get 2 karaoke bonus tracks: What I Did For Love and One.

What's gonna really piss me off is a year from now they'll probably decide to release a "deluxe special edition never before released once in a lifetime from the vaults collectors CD with a tkts t-shirt and mini finale top hat" with all the songs included on one cd.

Still curious about this 2-CD remastering of the Original Broadway Cast recording of A CHORUS LINE. I checked EVERYWHERE and there is no listing for a 2-CD set new OR old.
The 1998 remastering, which included those extended bits in the Montage (adding Connie and Don's lines) and the correct song placement of "Nothing" and "Dance 10; Looks 3" is the ONLY remastering that exists AND it's not a 2-CD set.
What's up with this 2-CD thing?

Posted: 10/10/06 at 12:53pmI have gotten used to Charlotte's pronunciation of the words. And I love the way she says "mirror." I can still see her face as she sings "And the rest of the crap'll get solved."

I wish that, at the VERY least, the recording at the theatre included AND as a bonus track. I think it is ridiculous that e-stores like iTunes and Rhapsody (what, because no one gives a damn about rhapsody they can add more!?) can put "extra" stuff.
At least if you buy the CD there should maybe be a code or something in the booklet to go online and download the extras - one download per code...
I mean, for me, I don't care because all of my stuff goes into iTunes and/or on my iPod, so I could put the extra track in...or at the very least burn a new CD with the new track.
It's nice to have Mark and Connie's extra stuff (which, with a few extra lines of dialogue, are the big additions), but I'd rather of AND...though I don't see why they can't put both. They have 20 minutes of blank space!

"And..." isn't on itunes. There are only two bonus tracks and they're karaoke tracks.

No, but AND is on rhapsody.
(I don't care about the karaoke tracks, but they were part of my diatribe against extra stuff. It's the principle of the thing.) Oh, well. At least they made it!

Ah. Gotcha. I do like the extended bits in the montage. It's nice that some of the less flashy characters get more album time here.

Well...at least we can watch him hog camera-time in the FOSSE DVD/video/PBS telecast.

Just be glad they made a CD, period.
About cuts of monologues and whatnot, who cares? It's an ensemble piece, it's an ensemble CD. Not everyone has the same amount of time on stage, not everyone has the same amount on the CD.

If you HAVE the Fosse DVD, that is.
Yankee - You are very right. But AND is an ensemble-ish number.
I thought the point of the CD was to also include AND and the stupid overture no one wants to hear.

And was always gonna be a bonus track only available online. The Overture That Never Was, which was created for the ACL segment in Marvin Hamlisch's concerts, was canned while still in the planning stages.
I would have loved to have had a full 80 minute CD, so many other shows have one, but what can you do? At the very least, they could have included the tits-and-ass monologue.

Believe me. It's not missed. You can hear it on the internet if you search in the right place.

Yeah, I was surprised they shortened Val's stuff.
Guess we just gotta cut and paste!
